Let’s talk boots. I have been dying to get a great pair of boots for years. Literally, years. The first problem I found was calf size. It took me a couple of years to realize that wide calf boots exist. That was a game changer. I started ordering boots online because finding them in stores is next to impossible. Despite multiple purchases (and returns) I still haven’t found a pair that fits. Why? Simple.
Most boots are made so that as the shoe size increases, the boot shaft also increases in width. I’m short, so most boot styles that fit my 6 1/2 sized foot aren’t wide enough for my calf. If you have a larger foot you won’t have this problem. But, if you’ve got small feet like me, you’ll have to hunt a little harder.
To determine how wide you need the boot shaft to be simply measure around the widest part of your calf. Then, look at the boot’s specs online. They will list how wide the shaft is at it’s widest, and which shoe size has that width. It’s a gamble to order them online, but it’s really the only option for a great selection.
Here are a few of my favorite wide calf boots.
1. I would wear these with a skirt, to church. Also, can I say how much I love Duo, the company that makes these? You can choose your calf width and they custom make the boot for you. So, you’re not limited by your shoe size. AMAZING! (I’ll be ordering from here soon and I’m hoping that I’ve finally found my boots!)
2. The leather work on this riding boot is lovely. Swoon.
3. If you want your outfit to be about the boots, choose these.
4. A wedge for a modern look.
