Washable Style in Real Life Designer Pieces

wearable fashion New York Fashion Week

Real life and high fashion don’t usually mix terribly well, at least in my world.  I make it to the dry cleaners about twice a year, if that, and the only reason I’m wearing things that need to be dry cleaned (on the rare occasions when I do) is because my kids are old enough not to spit on me anymore.

Most of the time.

I’m not much for unwearable style because at the end of the day if I can’t throw something in the washing machine, it just isn’t going to happen.  Period.  But you remember when I talked about Fall Fashion in Real World Conditions back in December?  The collaboration with Tide Pods® + Tracy Reese and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Washable Fashion Initiative?  I’m happy to report it all went extremely well.  So well in fact, the two pieces you voted for on Pinterest in December walked the runway yesterday in New York for NYFW*.

Do you see how gorgeous these pieces look in real life?  Those metallic cargo pants are the cutest thing I’ve seen since, well, ever.  I want a pair now, like riiiiight now, in light metallic grey/blue.  Which outfit is your favorite?  I definitely think the one on bottom is pretty fab.

If you could have anything high fashion be washable in real life, what would it be?  I’m super curious.

* NYFW = New York Fashion Week

** NYFW in FEBRUARY for Fall 2014?  That doesn’t even make sense.  I know, it’s not logical to talk Fall fashion in the middle of Winter, but that’s how it happens in runway fashion, waaaaaaay ahead of time.

// This is a sponsored partnership with Tide Pods® for which I’m grateful.  It allows me to keep Petit Elefant up and running in real life, so thank you. //
