My friend Karen Walrond just published a book, and it’s a gorgeous piece of work. I put it at the top of my wish list for Christmas but I couldn’t wait that long to read it, so I ordered it early and have been enjoying the fruits of her labor every night before I go to sleep.
Karen is a master storyteller and phenomenal photographer who put into words and pictures the stories of beautiful people who at one time or another felt “different”. I can’t overemphasize the importance of her work, and plan to sit down with Precocious to read snippets of The Beauty of Different over the next few months.
We’re at a precarious point on an adolescent cliff and I wish I’d had something like Karen’s book to guide me through the choppy waters of feeling anything but beautiful while I was growing up.

It’s really fun to see the faces of other people I love from the blogging world, like The Bloggess, oh yes.
And is that my favorite neighborhood photographer and his adorable wife Amy I see? Why yes, yes it is.
I can’t recommend this book highly enough. Karen really has a way with words and her photography is out of this world.
Run, don’t walk, to your nearest bookstore to order a copy, you won’t regret it for a minute.
Available at Bright Sky Press or Amazon.com
What a fantastic book! Great gift idea, thanks for the heads up.
It’s amazing, you should have one.
Love Karen and her photography! I can’t wait to see more of this book!
You need to get yourself a copy, it’s fabulous!
I ordered 3 copies, then Karen gave me a copy (cuz I’m in it-oh yeah). So, I’m giving my three away and ordering more for Christmas. I think it is so powerful and strong and beautiful, and, and…
May I tell you how happy it made me to see your shiny face in the pages? Seriously, I was delighted!
It’s amazing, amazing from start to finish.
