custom return address name stamp.

Have you ever visited the Etsy shop lettergirl? Oh, the cuteness! Gina has designed rubber stamps with your name or return address that look like they’re handwritten. By a well seasoned scrapbooker. Or someone like Marta, with the cutest handwriting known to man. But you can fake it with these rubber stamps! I must have one, they are so adorable. Gina has kindly offered to give away a self-inking name stamp to one of you. Sadly I can’t participate, so…

cheap kid storage solution

From the word go as a parent I’ve wondered how to go about decorating the way I like while integrating all the gear that comes with kids. While I know that IKEA gets a bad rap for being really cheap, it has saved my hide time and again when it comes to decorating. Especially in small spaces, and with children. Not many companies are conscious of children in their design, but IKEA is, and I love them for it. Take…

get started on twitter.

Are you using Twitter? I think Design Mom said it best when she described Twitter as Facebook on crystal meth. I’ve been on Twitter for a while now, but I just haven’t been using it to its fullest capacity. I recently learned about Girls Night Out on Twitter or to the expert, #gno. It was started by the two ladies behind Mom It Forward and is the hottest place to be on the internets on a Tuesday night. I honestly…

easy crock pot dinner with roasted chicken.

[photo via betty crocker] Busy? Need dinner? Me too. Here’s a technique I use over and over–it’s economical, easy, versatile and tasty. Place one whole roasting/fryer chicken (thawed, emptied, rinsed, patted dry) in a crock pot. Add just a teensy bit of water, season generously with kosher salt and black pepper. Cook on low all day long. Voila! Tender, moist chicken that shreds off the bone and skin in a flash. Ideal for myriad recipes–anything really–like enchiladas, chicken salad, rice…

interior divine.

I’m spending the day in the city today minus the kids, + the husband doing whatever it is we please for the whole darn day. The thought of so much uninterrupted kid time leaves me a bit speechless, and frankly I’m buzzing with excitement. Later tonight we’re headed up to Park City for a tweet-up gathering at the Sundance Film Festival. Soy muy excited! Since I won’t be home at all today I thought I’d leave something for your perusing…

beautifully made bed.

There are few things that make me happier than freshly laundered sheets and a tidy, made-up bed. There’s nothing fancy about it {except maybe the high thread count sheets-I’m a complete devotee, they’re worth every penny} just a few pillows, a duvet, and some IKEA bedding. But it has such a nicely pulled together look doesn’t it? Looking at it right now makes me want to crawl on top with a good book and a cup of cocoa. Mmmmmm. I’m…

chalkboard dining room.

Spotted this on Design*Sponge today. I love the unconventional-ness of chalkboard paint in a dining room. I’ve thought many many times about painting a wall outside the kids’ bedrooms in chalkboard paint, but haven’t because I picture chalk dust as a constant companion on the carpet. Has anyone tried it and loved it? Or tried it and hated it? I love the concept. In theory. {via Design*Sponge}.
