Hello there! I'm Allison Czarnecki, founder + editor of Petit Elefant, a blog all about style on a budget for every part of your life: style / home / travel / family. I do a lot of how-to beauty + style tutorials, travel posts, easy recipes, home remodel projects, and cool DIY crafts you totally want to try. I'm super happily married (to a hot Polish immigrant) and am the mother of two kids, a daughter and son, all of whom are featured here on the regular. We live in the country but we're a little bit rock + roll. Welcome!
Melissa, I’ve never thought of them like a bib, but I love the idea!
You’re hilarious.
Ali :
LOVE scarves and have a single way-too-big drawer overflowing with them. nothing like slapping on a scarf dramatically and sashaying your way down the sidewalk for giving a girl a dose of 1940s attitude and glamour!
Ali, I couldn’t agree more! And I love having a complete diversity of scarves, one for every mood that hits.
Ali :
Every girl should have a scarf wardrobe! My drawer includes everything from the purely decorative, the lightweight summer scarf, the super-chic pashmina and the ultra-cozy cashmere! Plus, of course, the various animal prints and my favorite recent addition…a sequined one!
Melissa’s comment is hysterical! I LOVE it. I’ve actually never worn a scarf as an accessory. Shame on me! What a great excuse to go shopping. I’ll let you know how it goes! I’m a bigger gal and have always been afraid of fashion until now. I now know that despite what ever size you are you can dress totally cute! There’s no reason I have to dress frumpy just because I’m plump! :) I’ll let you know how it goes! Here’s to plump size fashion!
Tami, it might have taken me my entire life so far to figure it out, but you’ve gotta dress your size. And by dressing your size, I mean fox yourself out.
Guess who went shopping and is foxed out now? ME!! I’m hot now! JK. I found THE cutest scarf and can’t wait to wear it. Oh and I found me some dang cute shirts. You’d be so proud. I think you’d even shed a tear! I’m so happy! Now I just have to find some rockin shoes that my orthodics will fit into. You are the best! And if you are ever looking for an assistant…I rock at that…just saying!!!
I love it. Great tutorial. I love scarfs and love all the different ties! I actually have a slight variation on that last tie you show…I hope you like it. It is the same basic tie, but the result is a bit less bulk. I’m obviously not the inventor of it or anything….but here it is ;) http://www.elleinadspir.com/2010/06/only-thing-that-separates-us-from.html
Ha…Thanks. Glad you like it! Your video makes me want to step up my game though….much better tutorial! Now if Fall temps would settle in around here…I could actually get to wearing all these scarfs!
I ADORE my scarves. They are like adult bibs. If I spill on my shirt I can cover my spill with my scarf. If I spill on my scarf, my shirt is saved!
Could you do a post about how to eat with the extra bulk of a scarf for those of us less graceful women out there?!

Holy cow Tami, I’m so proud of you, I might just get a little emotional.
Go mama!
And, I’ll keep you posted on the assistant business. For reals.

Nice! I love the twist on the tying! You’re the self-inventor of this one babe, I’ll give it to you.

Great timing! I just bought my first non-winter scarf today and was feeling a little clueless. Feeling a bit less clueless now…thank you!
Oh hooray, so happy to help!
I have been experimenting with new ways to wear scarves, and this gives me so many more ideas! Scarves are like a little spice for your outfit!
They totally are. A little spice, a little texture, a little color.
Great tips! :)
Thanks!
Fabulous how-to!!
Does this mean you’re going to start wearing scarves? Please to say yes.
