I’m always wondering what people do behind the scenes as far as beauty is concerned. What kind of night cream are they using? Are they really devoted to $35 mascara? Are you all washing your face every. single. night of the week?
Here are my 4 beauty staples, in vlog form. And no, I don’t wash my face every single night. So sue me.

Hello there! I'm Allison Czarnecki, founder + editor of Petit Elefant, a blog all about style on a budget for every part of your life: style / home / travel / family. I do a lot of how-to beauty + style tutorials, travel posts, easy recipes, home remodel projects, and cool DIY crafts you totally want to try. I'm super happily married (to a hot Polish immigrant) and am the mother of two kids, a daughter and son, all of whom are featured here on the regular. We live in the country but we're a little bit rock + roll. Welcome!
Barb, that’s exactly how I buy mine too. Sometimes with a coupon! Fancy-like.
Jen McDonald :
I need to try those costco face wipes…I HAVE to wash my face every night or it turns into zit city–heck, I still get ’em even though I wash every night so I would hate to see it if I didn’t.
Vaseline – I put this all over my hands and feet (just a thin layer, not too goopy) and I swear my hands and feet have never looked better! I was shocked the first day – my hands looked five years younger. go figure.
Eyelash curler: Can’t believe what a difference this little step before mascara has made for the overall “awakeness” of my face. (yes, it’s a word)
Also, Aveeno Positively Radiance Moisturzer – I have spent WAY too much money on different moisturizers, looking for THE ONE and can’t believe how much better my skin looks after using this! Sold.
Brianna :
Eh, I HATE that mascara so much! I wasted $20 on it and it does a worse job than 2 dollar shop mascara. It clumps like crazy and it impossible to wash off.
Beth :
I am blond and can’t live with out foundation and mascara.
P.S. Your make up looks fantastic in this video – would love to know what eye shadow and lip colors you used.
Heidi E :
I love that mascara too! I also recently tried the Yes To Blueberries line and love it! I have tried fancy spa products, expensive department store products, and am so pleased I finally found a drugstore face wash and moisturizer that I love. It’s all natural with antioxidants. Really good stuff!
Thank you for the vlog! I emailed you a few days ago asking about this. Anyway, this was great. I don’t use that mascara, but I have a $5 one I’ve been using for about 10 years now. I have my “chap tub” – blistex tub – with me all the time, too. Thanks again!
4. Thank you for making me start to think about beauty products since I started following your blog… my goal? I will be a MILF one day. hahahahah

If you don’t wear foundation very much, what do you use instead? Cuz your skin looks really great! I’m in the market for new makeup and I’m having trouble deciding on foundation, especially because I have sensitive acne-prone skin, and I don’t like that heavy, cakey feeling that you described. So it’s nice to hear someone feels the same way I do! I’d love to hear what you use . . .
Only four? Here it goes:
1. St. Ives Apricot scrub
2. L’oreal studio secrets magic perfecting base (!!!!)
3. Avon gel eyeliner
4. L’oreal Explosion mascara (the brush is absolutely Medieval looking but it grabs every lash.)

I love that Oil of Olay moisturizer, too! Love the lightness, the SPF, and the price (I usually buy them in two-packs at Costco.)

Jen, they’re my saving grace. Love them.
Did I say lipstick?! I was waiting to see if you’d catch yourself!
I’m happy to say I have 2 of those staples. Along with blistex for my lips at night!
Blistex, that’s my girl!
two of my beauty staples are new finds (for me)
