I’m in the process of cleaning out the garage, tubs and tubs and boxes and boxes of stuff. I came across this purse I used to tote around in high school. Those are my initials emblazoned in red, (I was very into monograms) maybe because I grew up in Alabama; who knows? I graduated from high school in 1991 and I don’t remember exactly what year(s) I used this purse, but I know the purse itself and its contents are at least 20 years old. Kind of like a time capsule really.
- 6 rainbow stickers with my name on them
- a small case of gold stickers with my initial
- a used band-aid and two rolled up pieces of sticky trash
- a blue pen lid
- small blue teddy bear box containing paper clips
- 2 markers
- 11 pencils
- a compass
- a porcelain doll: on the bottom I wrote my initials and the number 8
- banana split lip balm (still some inside and still smells like bananas)
- a protractor
- a drafting triangle
By the looks of it you’d think I was some kind of math nerd. Not so. I was a band geek all the way. I remember that I couldn’t use that flute pencil anymore, if I had, I would’ve had to sharpen it more and that would’ve ruined the flute. My grandma gave me and my 3 sisters porcelain dolls every year for our birthdays and I’m thinking that’s the one she gave me when I turned 8. I have no idea what it was doing in my purse instead of on the shelf with the rest of my collection.
Oh, I loved that purse. Thanks for helping me show it off!
I remember having those gold stickers with my “J” on them too! Wish I had found an old purse to look through and find my treasures…
I love the “old purse as timecapsule” slant! And I really need some of those rainbow stickers.
so totally awesome.
Um, my favorite purse. It is all vintage and cool. :) I love Cathy, and how she always is doing something like this to make me laugh.
Love – Love – Love this!
This is the most awesome purse so far! Thanks
I had a purse almost like this one in the late 1970’s when I was in high school. It had a big pink/purple/blue/green/yellow butterfly where you have the monogram. I loved that purse. Thanks for sharing yours.
