NYC baby.

I’m getting ready to leave, on a jet plane. Don’t know when I’ll be back again. That was my tribute to Peter, Paul, and Mary. An homage to my hippie past. I actually do know when I’ll be back again. Sunday night, if you’re curious. I’m heading out to one of my favorite cities tomorrow {New York City} so I can spend some time watching the culinary advances of Robin Miller, with some sweet bloggers. And by sweet I mean…

finished bathroom remodel.

The beautiful kids bathroom project {nightmare} is over. It took approximately 4 years, 285 days, and 3 hours. Not too shabby. I am proud to say however, we didn’t hire out a single part of the bathroom. Viktor did all the wiring, plumbing, & tiling. I did the grunt work like the paint, grout, scrubbing. Awesome. The grant total price of the bathroom, top to bottom was $1,200. I’m really proud of that. Especially considering the fact that when we…

tie dye party: birthday party idea.

e year old boy

Being that I’m the child of two hippies it’s only natural that I’d want to throw a tie dye party for my five-year-old’s birthday. I’m here to tell you hippie or not, this was the best birthday party we’ve ever had, and I’ve thrown some good ones. The thing is, you mix together kids + tie dye + a bag of Oreo cookies + backyard = raging success! We used a Jacquard Tie Dye Kit and the party guests either…

coach wristlet giveaway winner.

Happy day, Jodie B-C won the Coach wristlet giveaway! Thanks for all the birthday well wishes, I think 32 is my year. I can feel it in my bones. Viktor and two of my closest girlfriends threw a really great birthday bbq for me over the weekend. If my camera wasn’t a little bit {totally} ghetto I might have pictures to show you. As it is, my camera eats batteries for lunch and I didn’t have any left to shoot…

Homemade granola

Fall is officially here—hooray for my favorite season! Time to bring out the sweaters, the scarves, the cute little boots that I bought last spring in anticipation of this season! And time to bust out all the great fall recipes. Time to bring out the pumpkin! I love all things pumpkin. Pumpkin pie, pumpkin soup, pumpkin cookies. So when I came across a recipe for pumpkin granola, I had to try it out. It’s still piping hot from the oven…

{from the archives} sea glass.

*this is a re-posting from the archives. enjoy* I have a weakness for sea glass. I’ve been collecting it since I was a teenager and serendipitously stumbled upon my first piece while beach combing in Monterey Bay, California. Want to see my first piece ever? How cute is it that I found a heart? It was love at first sight. Do you know about sea glass? People look at me sideways when I tell them I collect it in little…

the hall closet

Typically a dumping ground for handbags, backpacks, soccer balls, vacuums, parkas and all other manner of paraphernalia, the hall closet can be a scary place. But it doesn’t have to be. Sure, it probably won’t ever look like a page out of a magazine, but a few inexpensive tools can make it functional and tidy. Even with husbands and children on the loose. Our hall closet is small, but did come with built-in cubbies up one side. The other side…

home canned tomatoes in the pantry.

This year marked my fifth for freezer jam, my third for canning peaches and applesauce, and my first for canning tomatoes. Now that it’s all done; the tomatoes weren’t nearly as tricky as I’d expected and were actually easier than the peaches. No worries about them turning brown like peaches, no extra step of pureeing like applesauce. And they look so pretty and autumnal on my pantry shelf.

coach wristlet giveaway.

In honor of my birthday today {I’m 32, wohoo!} I’m giving something away. When I went to the thrift store the other day I found a Coach Wristlet. I know. It really doesn’t mean much to me, and I don’t have the energy to look into whether or not it’s a fake, but I thought one of you might adore it. Yes? Some birthday love, from me to you. Leave a comment and I’ll mail this baby off to one…
