whitening teeth at home

I’ve officially lost any vanity I might have ever had.  I mean, I share all kinds of personal information with you, but I never show you actual photos of me in bed for weeks at a time, or pictures of me un-showered with bedhead.  But today?  I’m showing you a photo of my yellow teeth.

I know.

Never mind the wrinkles.  I’m an unapologetic sun worshiper, and I have the laugh lines around my eyes to show for it.

Anyway, we’re talking about my teeth.  They don’t look as manky here as they do in real life, but I promise you, my teeth are not my best feature.  Just last week Charming politely asked why my teeth were so “brown” and if there was a way to fix it.

Duly noted little Jedi.

So I’m taking action.  This week I’m going to use some teeth whitening strips to see if they can really make these yellow {“brown”} teeth look a little less manky.

The copy on the box swears they brighten your teeth in 2 hours, so I’m going to give it a go and see what happens.  I can get a lot done in 2 hours with these bad boys on my teeth, so I’ll come back next week with a side by side picture of the before and after shots of my teeth and let you be the judge.

See?  NO pride left at all.

Yay! I am eager to know if these actually work. I use whitening toothpaste all the time, but since I drink tea all day long…well, I have issues. Thanks for being our guinea pig.

    • Allison :

Anne, I do too! I think the diet dp is counteracting all my whitening toothpaste. Keeping it classy over here.

  2. julie r :

in my experience, these work VERY well, you just have to keep it up to keep your teeth white!

    • Allison :

Julie, I can do a handful of strips, it’s the constant teeth trays that kill me.

  3. Christie :

Allison, you are beautiful, no matter what you say about your supposed “wrinkles” and “manky” teeth. I want to look just like you when I grow up.

PS: My brother used to call mine “corn teeth” when we were kids. haha!

    • Allison :

I have proof. Wrinkly manky proof. :)

      Corn teeth! That’s harsh.

  4. Sarah :

I am SO curious to see how well these work. I, personally, am in desperate need.

    • Allison :

      ME too. Seriously.

  5. Dana :

I’ve used the original Crest Whitestrips before. All I can say is ouch!!! My teeth were so sensitive. And I didn’t even follow the recommended regimen; I just used them a day here and a day there because I couldn’t stand the sensitivity that came after the first use.

I wish you luck and hope these super-duper ones are a little more nerve-friendly!

    • Allison :

      Dana,
That stinks! I have super sensitive teeth too, so I’ll let you know what I think about these bad boys.

  6. Monica N :

I’ve used the original ones years ago and had great success. Lasted for years but now that I’m a regular coffee drinker, well, you know. Good luck!

    • Allison :

      Monica,
I know, I can’t give up the juice so we’ll see if they stay white after all that. I hope so, I need it.

I’ll be completely honest and say I am vain about my teeth. Hey, my mom paid a lot of moolah for these chicklets!

I use these, but not too often. They make my teeth sensitive. Plus I give up coffee while I use them. (something about the whitening making your teeth more porus so coffee/tea/ketsup will stain them easier before the enamel can seal back up…I don’t know if this is true but I’m not taking any chances) I use them for special occasions, so if I know I have a wedding coming up, it’s part of my week before routine.

I’ve done the trays before and the rembrandt one works really well. The strips are very convenient though.
