About the Purse:

By Amy Mac Designs. Backstory: I’ve never been able to pass up a charming purse, so when my babies were still babies I started designing and sewing purses (and halter tops, belts, kids’ clothes – all sorts of stuff) and selling them at boutiques. After several successful years, I decided to end my design business to focus on other endeavors.

In reality, my kids had grown old enough where I could string together two thoughts without someone interrupting me to bust up a skirmish about Polly Pockets, so I started writing again professionally.

Fast-forward to today, and I’m still carrying my designs – including this perfect-for-spring concoction I couldn’t bear to part with. I’ve tucked back the ones I love-love, and am giving duplicates away on amymacpr.blogspot.com. this month —Including one just like the one I’ve featured here.

About the Stuff:

  • The Wallet—A Kiss Clutch from Vera Bradley, it’s big enough to carry all the items that accumulate in a mom’s purse (receipts, Abercrombie gift certificates, library cards —but strangely little cash…). Love it because it doubles as a clutch in a pinch.
  • The Notebook & Pen—As a writer, I’ve noticed those genius ideas that will change the world (or at least give me a solid start on my next newspaper column) pop in my head at the most inopportune times. This is where I scribble out the ones I must remember when I’m caught at a PTA meeting, in the carpool line, or waiting on a client.
  • The Sunglasses—My aviator Ray-Bans are the only thing that keeps me from screaming “My Eyes! My Eeyyyyyeees!” every time I walk outside.
  • The iPhone—Which doubles as my Kindle when I leave it at home, my camera, my alarm clock, my calendar, my entertainment (my Words With Friends user name is Amymac72 – let’s play!). And, oh yeah, it’s my phone, too.
  • The Lifesaving Necessities—
  • Biafine. With dry skin the consistency of a stale Triscuit, my skin always needs special attention. This cleans, moisturizes, and minimizes scars.
  • Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush Lip Gloss in Fruit Punch. Hands-down my favorite lip gloss. Pretty, fresh color and light consistency so my lips don’t stick together like I’ve applied a combination of honey and glue.
  • Altoids—because we don’t want to offend the sensibilities of those who get in our personal space.
  • Neutrogena Sport Wash Wipes—cleans up anything from a sweaty brow after an intense tennis match to a kid-instigated chocolate-pudding mishap in the backseat of the car on a road trip.
  • The Big Secret—See that little metal clip? It has a magnet on the back. I carry this in my purse so I can gather up random papers that get dropped in my handbag, clip this to my fridge, and make my way through the stack when I have a few minutes. It’s the only reliable way I’ve discovered for retrieving those papers from the abyss of my handbag and dealing with them in a timely manner.
