weekly fit tip: set yourself up for success.

I still need you to keep coming forward with your fit tips. I’m squirreling them away for a rainy day and I want as many as I can get. Please.

Today’s fit tip?

Set yourself up to succeed.

What does that mean? It means: assume you are going to meet your goals. Know you are going to meet your goals. Don’t set yourself up with even an ounce of self-doubt. You can do it, you know you can. Don’t let yourself think even for a second, that you aren’t going to accomplish what you’ve set out to do.

If that means you need to tape little reminders all over your life, so be it. I have a magnet on my fridge that reminds me to be active. I cut out a picture from a fitness magazine to help me remember what I want to do. It’s a photo of a woman running her heart out, mid-stride. I mod podged her, glued her onto a magnet, and put her on my fridge. She helps me remember that I really can do it. And so can you.

Very early mornings are usually my only chance to get in some concentrated exercise. It’s hard to get out of bed after that 5 am feeding for baby, but it helps to lay out me exercise gear at night: shoes, socks, industrial strength foundation garment, ipod, etc. in a neat stack next to the bed so I don’t have to fumble around wasting time. I’m not always successful, but it really does help.
