I had a major “aha!” moment this week. It shouldn’t be news to me, but unfortunately it was. My fit tip today is like the Boy Scout’s of America motto:
Be Prepared
I mean it. Be prepared. For that mid-morning snack, those afternoon cravings, dinner menus, midnight pillaging of the kitchen cupboards {come on, don’t tell me I’m the only one}. I absolutely need to have a plan or I’ll eat like a teenage boy every time. I need to plan ahead what I’m going to order if we go out to dinner, I need to plan my food/calories accordingly if I know I’m going to an party of some sort and where I know I’ll want a slice of cake.
It’s all about preparation ladies, all about the preparation.

This is seriously my biggest downfall when it comes to my health. If I don’t pack healthy food for work I eat junk all day. If I don’t pack my gym clothes I go home to “change” and can’t get myself out the door.
Amen! I plan what I’m going to eat the next day every night before I go to bed. Otherwise, I’m starving at 10a and am cramming donuts in my mouth.
I have a list posted on my fridge (on nice pretty paper) titled “quick and easy meals and snacks” I have listed 15 5-6 point breakfasts and lunches that take no more than 10 minutes to prepare, and 15 2-3 point snacks on this list. This helps me to identify something to eat very quickly, rather than standing in front of the fridge, hungry, wondering what sounds good. All of the meals include a fruit or veggie, and about half of the snacks do. This assures that I am not neglecting my fruits and veggies in each day.
