what to put in stockings for kids.

For the little ones who have hung their stockings with care, might I suggest the following:

  • a candy cane
  • an orange–if you like to do things the old fashioned way
  • a chocolate santa
  • small cars (think hot wheels or matchbox)
  • crayons or markers, maybe even glitter markers if you are brave
  • novelty bath soap or bubbles
  • a classic toy: a viewmaster with extra reels, yo-yo, or slinky
  • fun toothbrush
  • cozy socks, hat or mittens
  • for older kids, consider a classic novel, mp3 player accessories, novelty watch, card games.
what are your must-have stocking stuffers?

My mom always put mascara and a toothbrush and a mini electronic game (yahtzee, tetris, football, etc.). Doesn't feel like Christmas without those.

  2. The Glamorous Life Association :

Every year- for reasons I can't explain I include a toothbrush in the stocking, pack of pencils and bubbles.

My kids are 9 and 11 and I still do.

You must have read my mind. We always give an apple and an orange. I think this is because money was tight when we were little. I also got socks, matchbox cars and candies for my little guy.

Binoculars, magnifying glass, tape measure, hammer, Edward (twilight) action figure, holiday edition favorite candy, lip gloss, body spray, glitter powder (all hello kitty), Andean flute, CDs(Taylor swift and Hannah Montana movie soundtrack), and I want to get ny hands on some true-to-life crayola markers.

Growing up there was always the Life Saver storybook with 10 rolls of the candy. Even now as a married grown up my mom makes sure there's on in my stocking. Oh, and we always got the traditional apple and orange too!

Actually every year my mom puts a giant orange and a giant apple in each of our stockings. We decide which one she loves most by comparing to see who gets the biggest ones.
