It’s time you learned how to put your hair in a bun. You can do it! Hair is a tough thing, sometimes. I mean, we’ve all got to live with whatever hair we we were born with. And deal with it every single day. Let’s be honest, sometimes we resort to pulling into a pony tail, or tucking it under a hat, or pulling it into a messy to-knot style bun. At least that’s on trend, right?
However, a top knot isn’t for everyone, so today I’ve got a tutorial for a very simple everyday bun that you can do in maybe 10 minutes flat. It’s easy, cute and people will think you spent quite a bit more time than you actually did!
Another benefit of this simple hair style? You can wear it on dirty hair. In fact, most styles look great with dirty hair! A little dry shampoo and tease at the roots and you will be good to go. Here’s the break down of how to do it.
- I didn’t show it here, but you can start by teasing the crown and the sides of your hair. A little dry shampoo can never hurt!
- Start by separating the front of your hair out on either side. Keep it pinned away from the rest of the hair.
- Twist the rest of the hair downward, creating a poof and securing with a bobby pin.
- Continue twisting the rest of the hair up and around into a bun and secure with bobby pins.
- Once you have the bun secured, start with one of the front sides. It doesn’t matter which one. Add a little tease, if necessary, to match the volume of the rest of the hair. Sweep it back and lay it over the bun.
- Continue to wrap the front section around the hair, pinning as necessary.
- Repeat on the other side.
- You con solidify with hairspray if you need it, otherwise – you’re done!

I hope you liked this simple hair tutorial! It’s definitely something you can add into your everyday routine without adding too much time to your get ready process! If you don’t have time to secure a regular bun in the back, just create a messy bun with a hair tie and pin the front sections back into it. That would look fabulous & effortless as well!
What do you think? Is this something you’d like to try out? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
