BlogHer sneak peek.

This is just a complete mishmash of photos from Chicago last week. I’m still so tired I feel upside down, and my ankles are only now losing a little bit of swelling. Getting off the plane from Boston post BlogHer, they resembled play-doh. Put your finger in and it got stuck. Not pretty. So I’m resting and recuperating before I do a big post. Let me just say, I haven’t had that much fun since college. Scratch that, I haven’t…

blogher, boston, and beyond.

BlogHer was a huge success. News outlets all over covered the story of the SocialLuxe Lounge, which was 100% better than I even dreamed it would be, and I knew it was going to be good. I can’t give the full report since I’m in a hotel room in Boston, Massachusetts hanging with a bunch of cool bloggers for a TJ Maxx event. Full details will follow. Here’s the recap for now: SocialLuxe at BlogHer was a {huge} success. stop….

The Beverly Garland, Holiday Inn

Los Angeles is one of those places where you can spend a lifetime, and yet fail to see it all. Having been invited as guests of the Beverly Garland Holiday Inn, we were excited to have an opportunity to spend time in an area of Los Angeles that I have not been to in probably twenty years. The Beverly Garland Holiday Inn located in Studio City and the Hollywood buzz can be felt in the air. So close were we…

sandcastle inn at pismo beach, california.

As we drove down from Monterey to Pismo Beach, through Big Sur and Morrow Bay, it suddenly dawned on us how desolate and far removed we really were from the rest of the world. With ocean on the right and massive mountains on the left, we were destined to remain on the one small, skinny, and very windy right-of-way that civilization carved out and paved over; altogether noticing how with every slide and rock chute nature fought hard to reclaim…

tour of the monterey bay aquarium.

I’m not exaggerating in any way, shape, or form when I say that the Monterey Bay Aquarium is one of my favorite places on the planet. Seriously. I mentioned before that as a kid we spend time in Pacific Grove {right next to Monterey} in a little cabin across the street from the ocean, and that it feels like home to me as much as anywhere else in the world. We used to have annual passes to the aquarium and…

Victorian Inn, Monterey California

While in Monterey we stayed at the Victorian Inn. And we loved it. The Victorian Inn is a charming hotel just a couple of streets up from Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium and only a few walking blocks from Fisherman’s Wharf. It was a great location. Not too crowded or noisy, but close enough to the center of it all. What a welcome to the hotel! There were some chocolates in the basket that didn’t even make it…

road trip from san francisco to monterey.

As part of our trip in California last month we drove from San Francisco, CA to Monterey. Usually when we go places we tend to take it slow and enjoy the drive. Needless to say, we are quite capable and ready to barrel through 18 hours straight if we need to, but this trip, we set things up to try and travel at most 4-6 hours each day. The drive traveling along HWY1 from San Francisco was as beautiful as…
