In order to make everyone in the photo shoot in Park City, Utah I worked on this week look good, I had 7 boxes of clothes, 11 pair of shoes, a clothes rack, a clothes steamer, and a stylist kit.
I took up residence in a hotel room at the Waldorf Astoria where we were shooting and promptly filled up the entire room with detritus. I steamed clothes in the bathroom inbetween having models change outfits, and laid out collages of their outfits on the bed along with a listing of the contents of each outfit.
It’s a busy business.
We worked for about 12 hours on Monday and 4 on Tuesday to shoot 5 models, who were winners of an American Airlines magazine contest. The end result was beautiful though. The design director of the magazine, called American Way, has a great eye and the photographer for the shoot, Ed McCulloch, is simply phenomenal.
I didn’t dare take my nice camera to the shoot, so the photos I took are more than a little sketchy. They give you a feel for the shoot though, and how much work really goes into a good photograph.
I’m going to let the photographers pose me from here on out though, I just look ridiculous in this shot.

How awesome! What a fun (and crazy) experience for you! I hope you’ll post the final photos/feature so we can see the end result!
I absolutely will!
So what were you wearing to the photo shoot? Hope you had fun!
The usual. What I had on in the photo: sweater, tee, skinny jeans, ballet flats.
Love the clothespins on the shirt! I bet (know) you were the best stylist they’ve ever worked with.
I know, funny trick huh?
I had an amazing time, whether or not I was the best they’ve worked with! :)
Super! Fun! Thrilled for you pal!
Thanks babe! So much fun.
Totally exciting! I hope you get more gigs like this. There’s no one better! I am pinning clothes pins onto my sweater right now.
I agree, I hope I get more like this, it was a blast.
I can just see you clothespinning now….
This looked like so much fun! What really cracks me up though is that the male model at the bar sorta looks like the Prime Minister of Canada (if you look quickly). I started reading and I was like, “What the…?” And then I realized that I was kind of an idiot and that no, Stephen Harper didn’t just happen to be hanging out at your photo shoot. This all happened within 3 seconds in my head and meanwhile took me 5 minutes to type out only for everyone to read it and worry about my mental state. It’s true. I’m tired and should step away from the computer.
How funny, I’m googling him now.
So so so so fun! I would love to be behind the scenes and just see how it all works.
You would love coming to take a peek, but I’ve shown about all there really is to see.
oh what fun! How exciting!
It absolutely was, thank you!
