You guys, my computer ate my last post. And I’m phoning it in anyway since it’s been a rough couple of weeks around here.

Here’s the long and short of it:
1. Spent the day of December 28th skiing with my family at Park City Mountain Resort.
2. On the last run of the day I went down a double black diamond behind my 6-year-old {who’s a much better skier than I} and ended up on my face.
3. Thought the worst of my injuries was a black eye and terrible concussion.
4. Turns out I was wrong. I usually am.
5. Woke to a throbbing shoulder the next day, along with numb fingers. Hooray!
6. A trip to the friendly local chiropractor revealed a couple of dislocated ribs and a possible tear in my shoulder.
7. Spent the next 5 days in bed watching MI-5, and reading Outlander.
8. A trip to my special friend the orthopedic surgeon revealed……nothing. He ordered an M.R.I. and I soothed my frazzled nerves by shopping at the adjacent Nordstrom Rack for a cute dress.
9. I spent all of yesterday at the hospital getting injected with radioactive dye into my shoulder joint, and sliding in and out of the M.R.I. machine.
10. I tried not to cry.
11. And failed.
12. But Viktor got a chicken salad from my favorite Mexican food joint, Cafe Rio for me, so all was well.
13. Plus, when they think you’ve torn a ligament? They ply you with the good drugs.
14. I’m prepping for a photo shoot in Park City on Monday/Tuesday for which I am the primary {and solitary} stylist.
15. Jealous yet? You should be.
Hang in there Allison. I’ve decided all this easing into the new year business isn’t as easy as it sounds. You’ll get better, you’ll be great. Surround yourself with good vibrations, positive, healing thoughts and allow yourself to rest all that you can. Sending you good wishes!
Thanks Kalani, I seriously appreciate it.
:)
You need to cancel everything and just rest. I was where you were just over a year ago. Sadly the broken bones healed a lot faster than my damaged brain. {{Hugs}}
Heather, *sigh* I wish I could cancel everything and crawl in bed.
I really do…
I meant “where you are”. I’ve been so worried about you since your original post. I am just so sorry.
Heather, it means a lot that you’re concerned. I seriously appreciate it!
Oh no! Sorry you are feeling run over by a freight train! Hope you are a fast healer! Enjoy some restful recuperating!
Yes, crossing fingers about quick healing.
Thanks!
Awe man it sucks to get hurt when you are having fun. But maybe cafe rio made it a little better lol
Cafe Rio makes EVERYTHING better.
This is the time when we heart insurance!!
Seriously Heather, I’m so grateful for it, I can’t even tell you.
Allison, I hope you feel better! I’ve been reading your blog for about a year now – you’re great! You caught my eye (er, sorry, no pun intended) when you mentioned reading Outlander. LOVE that book! I do think that if there’s one thing that can make you feel better, it’s a young, red-headed, hot, kilted Scottish man named Jamie. (My own husband accepted long ago that I will always be madly in love with Jamie.)
Oh Jamie’s a special one isn’t he? Gorgeous and I don’t even know what he really looks like.
maybe you were just cramming all your traumas for 2011 into the first month so you won’t have any more. let’s hope.
our first week of the new year began with a trip to the ER with my son, who needed to have his head glued back together.
Good GRIEF Robyn! I’m hoping you’re right. I can’t take much more in 2011 and we’re only 8 days in…..
