OPIs Collection of Gwen Stefanis 2014

It’s 2014 guys, which means it’s time for a new collection of nail polish.  Because if there’s anything that screams ‘I’ve got my crap together’ and ‘my New Year’s Resolutions are going swimmingly, thank you very much’ it’s a fresh manicure with some seriously tight colors.

You know what?

These colors are tight.

‘Tight’ isn’t normally a word I incorporate into my daily vocabulary, but I think I might start using it because it’s a new year, and I feel like 2014 is going to be tight.   So friends, these new nail polish colors are tight, tight like your best pair of Spandex, tight like your favorite pair of skinny jeans, tight like your bestie.

Don’t worry, I won’t throw it around too much, this isn’t the Jersey Shore, or your college campus.

But let’s get to the colors.  Gwen Stefani, one of my favorite style + music icons, collaborated with OPI on a new nail polish collection and you’d better believe it rocks.  (see what I did there?)

Stefani is pretty ridiculous talented, all around.  Her fashion line L.A.M.B. is amazing.  Her kids are adorable.  She married her musical crush, and she’s a crazy good singer.  Also, she’s amazing in concert.  Her old band No Doubt was the opening band for a U2 concert I went to in L.A. a million years ago, and dude, that girl! So good.

Like any rock star worth her salt, Gwen Stefani is never without her bold red lipstick, so it’s pretty appropriate the signature color of the OPI collection is a hot red.  It’s pretty much the perfect red, to be honest.  Not only that, Over & Over A-Gwen (the name of the signature red) comes with some Swarovski crystals + glue to vamp it up.

I love it.

The rest of the collection is pretty boss as well (a word I’m borrowing from my teenager here, boss that is), with killer names to boot.  Here we have top to bottom, In True Stefani Fashion (silver glitter), I Sing in Color (deep burgundy), Love.Angel.Music.Baby. (gold)

4 in the Morning (matte pitch black), Push and Shove (silver), Hey Baby (hot pink)

They’re all kind of the best.  I’m currently wearing ‘I Sing in Color’ which looks pitch black in pictures but is a really gorgeous burgundy.

Dark colors are tricky because they start to chip it looks super obvious, which is when you throw on a top coat of glitter.  Yesterdays manicure suddenly becomes super tight when covered in glitter.

TIGHT, just like 2014.

I had 4 in the morning in my hand just begging me to bring it home, but I couldn’t tell if it was a matte black or a matte gunmetal. Now I regret that I don’t own the silly little bottle of matte loveliness. I guess another trip to Ulta is in order…
