cute notebooks as journals.

Scooters, by Rabbit and the Duck, $40
When I was expecting my first baby, M, I couldn’t seem to find a ready-made baby book that suited my taste and needs. Pastel cartoon characters just didn’t appeal to me; ultimately I would be using the book, right? Then I had a teensy little light bulb moment: Who needs a baby book to tell them what memories and milestones are most important and where to put what photo, memento or memory? Besides, who really keeps up with a baby book anyway?
I purchased a pretty little notebook that I took to the hospital.  After M was born, I began to jot things down every few nights as I lay in bed. The books stays next to my bed and serves as a journal for both mommy and baby.  It’s now a log of things about M and motherhood and our new little family that were important to me along with all the typical milestones and special events.
That same notebook was used until his 1st birthday. I acquired another one and have kept the entries coming. As for photos, I simply keep them in archival photo albums in chronological order. Nothing too elaborate, but my memories are preserved  nonetheless. One day these journals will serve as detailed companions to those photo albums.

I’ve been so torn over the whole baby book through both kids and I LOVE THIS! It’s a little late, but I’m starting this immediately.
