We’ve been busy behind the scenes at Casa Czarnecki over the last couple of years, redecorating and remodeling, sledgehammering walls and ripping out old flooring, and finally, FINALLY after our epic Master Bathroom Remodel, we’re moving onto the attached Master Bedroom.
I couldn’t be more excited.
Our master bedroom has been woefully outdated, with dirty textured ceilings, weird circular windows, a tan-ish brown wall paint, and forest green carpet pulling up at the corners of the room. There have been many nights where I’ve been tempted to grab a couple of blankets and a soft pillow and head to the pretty, shiny and new en suite bathroom to make a cozy little bed in the jetted tub of the master bath.
Luckily, it hasn’t come to that.
We finally put in new flooring and painted the walls of the bedroom a gorgeous, simple grey, and now it’s time to talk about decorating the old place.
It’s absolutely amazing what a fresh coat of paint and a new floor can do for a room. We still have all our old furniture though, and are ready to make a break for it (from it??), and start from scratch. I put together a design board with some furniture ideas I love for our bedroom from YLiving, an online resource for gorgeous furniture, lighting, bath + home furniture and decor. I’m super into mid-century modern, probably because that’s what I grew up with, and YLiving, YBath, YLighting are all choc-a-bloc full of gorgeous mid-century pieces. The furniture is expensive, but an investment in your forever home.

Here’s what I loved most, when I sat down to look at how I’d like our master bedroom to look when we’re finished.

- 1 – Geometric animal head wall decor
- 2 – Catalina Mid-Century Modern Nightstand
- 3 – Lief Platform Bed Frame
- 4 – Union Jack area rug
- 5 – Triangle Laundry Hamper
- 6 – Astrid 6-drawer mid-century modern dresser
What do you think? What I realized once we pulled everything out of our bedroom to paint and install the new flooring, is how much I hate clutter. I know this about my style already, but seeing my bedroom completely cleaned out was a whole new level of WHOA. In fact, even though the room is put back together, we haven’t hung anything back on the walls because it’s so lovely having a clean palate.
Do you like lots of things on your walls and in your space to remind you of happy vacation places and fun nick-knacks, or are you a purist like me? It will be interesting to see what makes the final cut as we buy new pieces for our new master bedroom.
So, guess what? You’re in luck!

Sell your old stuff on the local classifieds it will make the new stuff seem all the more sweet!
Heather,
YESSSSS! And the cash earned will go towards the new gear.
Or, I’ll donate it to a local shelter that gives life to old furnishings by giving them to a first-time homeowner. Both win.
Thank you!
Oh my goodness, I love that geometric animal head! So cute!
