lost art of calligraphy.

My grandmother used to harp on me about “kids handwriting today….” on a regular basis. But she kind of had a point. She had a beautiful script, whereas mine is a hodge podge combination of capital letters and lowercase, half cursive, half print. It’s a lost art, is it not? I’ve thought many times about enrolling in a calligraphy class, it’s just so beautiful, and it seems like it might be a bit relaxing. An art class of sorts, don’t you think?

It’s true! My handwriting is much the same–a hybrid, if you will. Penmanship is no longer part of curriculum in schools–too much other stuff to get in the way. I think a class would be a great idea.

I love calligraphy! I recently took a class at the college and it has made me more conscientious of my penmanship. I wish I had more time to dedicate to this lost art!
