I’ve gotten a lot of feedback over the last several months from friends and readers alike:
- Who’s C? What does that even mean?
- Why do you use initials when you talk about your family?
- Why are you writing about baby food and sleep training if your kids are old enough to run Washington?
I’m almost kidding about the Washington part.
A long time ago, when I had a tiny portion of personal time {those days are long gone} I had a family blog. I updated silly anecdotes about my life several times a week, and in the name of anonymity I called my kids
Miss Precocious:
Mr. Charming
If you know me in real life, you know these names fit my children perfectly.
Mister Charming {C, as you know him} is in fact, very very charming. He’ll charm your socks right off you if you’re not careful.
And Miss Precocious? Well, let’s just say she gives me an agenda about once a week confirming play-dates, meetings, and after school activities. She could be running the U.N. with one hand tied behind her back.
I call my husband Viktor because he is from the formerly occupied Soviet… just kidding {sort of} Warsawa, Poland. One of my girlfriends originally called him that when she started writing stories about his inappropriate behavior on her blog {long before I ever started one}, and the name is so perfect it just stuck.
Regarding baby food and sleep training: I have two fabulous editors who write on this blog right along side me, Kimberly & Alma. They keep me sane, pick up the slack when I’m out of town or feeling a little under-the-weather, and generally write about things that are no longer applicable to me, like sleep training and homemade baby food.
KJ {aka Kimberly} is the mother of two beautiful boys {and I do mean beautiful} living in Idaho, who writes on Wednesdays and Fridays. She has a really simple, clean aesthetic and I trust her style implicitly.
Alma is the mother of squishy, huggable, lovable O, lives really close to my house, and might as well be one of my sisters. She writes on Mondays and comes up with whatever graphic design ideas my heart desires Monday through Friday. She takes weekends off. Kidding; Alma never sleeps.
Petit Elefant is actually in the middle of being renovated, we’re just really good at hiding the dust. The new layout and format should be a little more straight forward to you as readers, and if it doesn’t? Email me, I don’t bite.
{wink}
thanks for the clarity. I've been wondering the same… mostly about the baby stuff. :)
Super excited about the makeover.
Cereal in My Stiletto,
Funny name, love it.
Yeah, sadly the baby stuff is not my arena anymore. :)
Azucar,
Your mom's excited for the makeover.
can't wait to see the new look. i keep checking back!
darling, sweet children. ;)
hannah,
always a work in progress, emphasis on the work part.
thank you, i'm partial to the children myself.
I love the nicknames for your kids! Absolutely adore "precocious"… I couldn't think of a better word for her!
Natalie,
I know, right? The funny thing is that I started my blog a handful of years ago, and that was just the right name. It could have been the right name when she was 2.
