If you don’t have anything nice to say about IKEA, don’t say anything at all. At least within my hearing distance. I love that place to bits and pieces.
We spent what felt like the entire day today at IKEA getting finishing details for the new bathroom. Stuff you need, but don’t think about until the end of the project. Like a toilet paper holder, towel rack, garbage can. It’s not glamorous but somebody has to do it.
Aside from all the inglorious bathroom accessories we got today, I came home with these:
Why on earth do I need a set of 3 polka dot nesting tins? I don’t need them actually, they just make me happy to look at. Aren’t they fantastic? For $2.99. I might just set them on my desk to add a little happy spot to my day. Pens? Treats? Lip gloss holders?
I also couldn’t seem to leave the store without a set of these:
Honestly, can you even handle it? A set of 6 *elephant* tumblers for $5.99. They evoke something in me that remembers the 70’s as a happy, warm, and fuzzy place. With elephants and daisies apparently. There were matching napkins and place mats. Of course I bought them. Even though they’re orange and yellow, and a little bit psychedelic. Just like my childhood.
admittedly … i have the matching elephant and daisy trays.
couldn't figure out when i would use them …
but now? i pull them out all. the. time.
maybe a trip to ikea for the matching glasses is in order?
so glad to know that i'm not the only one who buys things just because they're pretty and make me happy to look at. i do that quite well actually…
So jealous… the nearest IKEA is about five hours away. Which is probably not a bad thing for my spending habits.
I have similar glasses and everyone loves them!
I love the glasses.
My passion and love of Ikea is long and DEEP. Have you seen the mini-series that is being filmed in Burbank Ikea (without the store's knowledge no less) It is sorta a furniture inspired novella. AWESOME.
But really? I could furnish a whole lot of my life from Ikea (and have)and let me tell you…NO ONE can build Ikea stuff better than me. Seriously. I must be part swedish or something…
I have a dresser from Ikea that is 15 years old. Now lives in my sons closet. And it looks BRAND NEW. Man I love that place.
Okay. This sinches it…I am off.
TOO IKEA.
Jen,
So cute, right? The glasses are fabulous, you have to go get some asap.
Jill,
My life is full of *stuff* I bought just because it made me happy. That's cheap happiness!
Naomi,
Until IKEA came to Utah, I used to make trips to LA {12 hrs} and have kids sit with stuff on their laps the whole way home. True story.
Donna,
Why haven't I seen them?!
Liz,
Ok, now the possibilities are flowing. Craft room accessories?
Likes Chocolate,
Seriously, they're so cute right?
Glamorous Life,
You have to email me info about that mini-series! I heart IKEA to the bottom of my heart. I have no tolerance for people who don't get it. ;)
I bought those same glasses yesterday, too! And they match the trays that we already own and use on a daily basis! Too funny.
Cicada,
Two great minds, thinking alike all the way home on I-15….
I'd have bought them too. I'm considering starting a charter service of sorts up here in ID: driving to IKEA to pick up and bring home great stuff for all the locals. They order it, will-call holds it, I pick it up and bring it back to ID, they pay me. I'd be getting paid to go to IKEA on a regular basis.
KJ,
That's my girl! Always thinking of ways to serve her fellow mom. ;)
I live 45 minutes from the nearest IKEA (and the only one in my state) and with two kids under 3, it isn't a place I get to regularly.
However, seeing these fun items has me wondering if I SHOULD put my sanity on the line and head out there this week. Hmmm… is it a lame date night to go to IKEA? :)
Melanie,
Lame date night to go to IKEA? Heavens, these days I'm happy to go to the local Gas n' Sip for a fountain drink. So uh, no. I think that's fabulous.
Ours is 45 minutes away too. They do have the kid play-place, and they hand out Gameboys for the kids who don't make the cut. So me + kids + IKEA, always.
We have those dot nesting cans! We use them in our 2yo's room for things like hairties, diaper pins, and those extra buttons and string that come with shirts and sweaters. I heart them :)
Just went there yesterday, and last week, and can't wait to go again! My children have also come to love the trips to IKEA, and they normally don't like to go shopping! That store and business is pretty impressive and pretty amazing! Love the elephant glasses! So stinkin' cute! I might need those nesting cans for my daughter! Thanks!
Alisa,
How can you NOT love IKEA, right? My kids became indoctrinated at a very young age, so now they love it. And any store that offers to give them a GameBoy while we shop? Magic.
I love the elephant tumblers as well – bought them myself only a few days ago. And yes, Ikea love is addicting (and addictive) and just straight up fun!
I love IKEA because that is where I ran into my celebrity crush, Shannon Hale, in the elevator. I still love IKEA even though I was too scared to tell her how much I worship her. It is, sadly, very far away from my home.
Visiting (and staying) from Design Mom. I have and LOVE those glasses along with the matching napkins. I have used them for all my recent dinner guests (and even a baby shower). I think my guests are starting to think I am a little stingy with my water though….but I don't care because the glasses are ADORABLE. Now I just put a mini pitcher of water (from Ikea) right on the table for refills.
Which section are those tins in? Office? I need those in my life!
