How to Have Twins

Cicada here again. This should be my last post, and I’m afraid that it doesn’t feature a fun project or product. I’m going to talk about an article I found about having twins.

That’s right. My husband and I have decided to have twins. {I’m not really serious, but I kindof am sortof serious.} I figured it would be easy since his grandpa was a twin, and I hear the gene skips a generation. So if I thought about it hard enough and ate enough food for three during my pregnancy {I manage to do that while not pregnant anyway}, after nine months twins would pop out of my womb.

Then I found this article on about.com. Apparently, multiple births is only inherited through women, and since there are no twins on my side of my family, it really didn’t matter one bit that my husband’s grandpa was a twin. But after talking about genetics, the article does give some helpful advice on what you can do to increase your chances of having multiple births.

Two that I can do very well are 1) be overweight, and 2) eat yams and dairy. In fact, I can eat the yams and dairy to become more overweight. And then I can have twins. I think it’s brilliant.

And in case having twins doesn’t really interest you, I’ll give you a great author recommendation. I grew up reading Robert Munsch books, like most Canadians my age. My brothers and I absolutely loved them. And if you can find a CD of him narrating his own stories, even better! We’d listen to his tapes on road trips.

I would love to get two kids out of a pregnancy! Thanks for the tips. I am really good at eating yams and dairy too, so I figure I’m nearly halfway there.

Ha ha I love this, I am a twin & thought it would be fun to have twins also… I’ll have to pick up some yams and dairy on the way home from work!! Ha ha!

I always think twins sound fun until I have just one baby and wonder what the heck I was thinking. There is something a bit fascinating about having them though.

My little sis had twins…identical even…there are 18 sets over 30 generations on my mother’s side. I really wanted twin boys from my first pregnancy (because anything after that would seem easy, right?) to measure up to her beautiful girls, but I’m happy with just the one that I got!

twins only through the mother? that’s questionable…I know a lot of couples who have twins that came through the father’s side. btw…i LOVE the paper bag princess. esp. when she tells roger he is a poop. hah! cicada…I loved seeing you sub this blog! want to sub mine?
