— This is a re-posting of an article from last Summer’s archives. While I’m away in Europe I thought I’d give you a tour of my blog. I’ve got years of content to delve into and plenty of fun content to keep you entertained while I’m away. —

My new washer and dryer from Frigidaire showed up a couple of weeks ago, and we’re having a good time getting to know each other. I’d say we’ll probably be exchanging promise rings by the end of the month.
Since I’ve been doing a lot of laundry at my house lately, I thought maybe now would be a good time to share my favorite laundry tip. It involves Oxi Clean, and elbow grease.
Grab a jar big enough to hold a fair amount of stain detergent powder and transfer as much Oxi Clean as you can into the jar. Put it somewhere easily accessible so you can grab a full scoop every time you do a load of laundry.

Since having children, specifically a 5-year-old little boy called Charming, I can’t simply do a load of laundry without adding some stain remover. Regular laundry detergent just doesn’t get the job done. I add a scoop of Oxi Clean to each load, sometimes even after pieces of clothing have already soaked overnight in a stain bucket, and start up the load.
The jar doesn’t do anything, but it makes my laundry duties seem a little more stylish, and I’m always up for that.
Please tell me any fabulous laundry tips you have. Seriously, I need all the help I can get.
—I wrote this review while participating in a Test Drive Campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Frigidaire and received a Frigidaire Refrigerator, Range/Microwave, Washer/Dryer set, and a Dishwasher to facilitate my review.
I totally agree, Allison. Oxyclean is a lifesaver!! Having 3 boys, all of which seem to have to get absolutely filthy at the same time, oxyclean is totally a staple in my house. And occasionally, I’ll spill coffee on myself, oxyclean gets that right out. It’s awesome stuff and brightens my whites like nothing else. You can add some to the water for your carpet steamer. Okay, I’m gonna shut up now.
i swear by Fels Naptha (an old fashioned looking bar of soap) and a magical mixture – Clorox 2 (powder) and Whisk (liquid). pour a tad of the Whisk on the stain, sprinkle the Clorox 2 on top, then rub it with an old toothbrush. works WONDERS! and lasts forever. i’ve used this mixture for newborn baby blowouts and the clothes end up looking like new. i’ve also tried it on dried blood and grass stains. it’s FABULOUS!!
My mother-in-law showed me that putting an ice cube over the stain and setting the garment in the sun can take a lot of stains out. If that doesn’t work for me I usually go straight to Grease Lightening.
What powdered laundry detergent do you use? A while ago I mixed OxiClean with a Sears brand powder with disastrous results..it faded the darks in streaks…so at the moment I use All Free & Clear liquid with oxi but I want to switch to a powder so I can put it in pretty jars and have no drips anymore…
I became an Oxy Clean fan shortly after becoming a mom. I must go through a bottle of the spray version a week! It definitely works like a charm on my kiddo’s stained clothes! :)
