During our last visit with Miss Kris of PAT, we learned that as my toddler approaches age 3, it’s important to expose him little by little to using the computer. It’s something I hadn’t really tackled, other than letting him click the mouse around the desktop, sans batteries. Thank goodness for toddler-friendly websites where we can explore computer based cause/effect, learn something new and have fun at the same time.
I recently learned about the Scholastic website for families. You probably know Scholastic for those book orders on colored newsprint, the ones you’d eagerly take home to mom and spend an entire evening perusing, circling the books you wanted the very most, second most, and third most. But did you know their website is full of great stuff too?

We like the on-line I Spy Games, based on those cool I Spy books (we love those), but there are lots of other great games based on favorite books.
Also printable coloring and activity pages, and special sections for parents with tips on fun learning activities based on child’s age.
I like knowing I can introduce my little one to computer use on sites like this that are educational, fun, and well controlled to be appropriate for everyone in my house. It’s nice for my little one to reinforce via computer the books we read together.

My kids really like starfall.com and it's more educational and slightly less annoying than the disney website.
We will be checking out scholastic. Thanks for the recommendation!
we absolutely love scholastic at our house. It's great for both my kids ages too. Another favorite? PBS kids. Love that site.
