I decided the other night, when I saw the dismal array of Valentines at the store, we were going to make our own this year. Both Charming and Precocious were totally on board and let me boss them around with the details.
I decided the best route would be to use my fabulous Cricut machine to do the dirty work for me, leaving me only to assemble and glue the pieces together. I kind of love the result.

I cut out little tags {isn’t the paper wicked cute?} and pieced together red rectangle centers where the kids can write Valentine sentiments along with their names.
Like so.

Just a dab of Elmer’s on each corner and we were ready to rock and roll.

I thought they needed a little more gussying up so I cut out some purple hearts {I could have never made them so straight if I’d done it by hand}, glued those babies on the top corner and we were good to go.

Easy peasy, lemon squeezy. I think I might loop a sucker through the tag hole before the kids take them to school.
Cute, right? Love my Cricut.
We are making them this year too… really cheesy ones loaded with stickers! :)
Miranda,
I know, I'm a failure as a mother for not getting them presents, but making up for it with homemade cards.
Kami,
I'm sure they're darling and the kids will love them more than they'll love these!
pen.ny,
Oh how fun to do a swap, what a great idea! And seriously, you do need a Cricut, it's the bomb.
Totally sweet, and I love the idea of attaching suckers!
Great! Adorable cards!! Thanks for such nice post.
Umm, I kind of love the results too! What lucky kids you have. This TOTALLY makes up for the fact that you don't buy them valentine presents anymore. :)
I'm doing a swap this year and hand-making them too! I can't wait to post the result!
Also, ohmygoodnessgraciouslordhavemercy I need that machine, like ASAP.
Fun fun fun! I gotta pull out the cricut!
These are adorable! I definitely need to take a look at the Cricut.
Did you see the letterpress sets at Alt? I was thinking something with those would be great for Valentine's. Although pretty pricey.
