When P was born we were poor college students who couldn’t afford a video camera. Cell phones back in the day didn’t include cameras, let alone video cameras. We really felt strongly about getting our wee one on tape as a brand new baby, so we ended up borrowing the video camera of one of my parents friends. We were able to record the first week of her life before we had to give it back.
By the time we could afford to buy a video camera, P was two and we’d missed a fairly good portion of recordable cuteness. We’ve had a few different video cameras since then, but I seem to haul it out only for the really big stuff: graduations, holidays, birthdays. I’ve missed a lot of the day-to-day things because it’s too big for me to put in my purse. And when we’re at the beach, there’s no way I want to bring the video camera along and risk ruining it forever.
Wait for it…. here’s the solution I wish I’d had 9 1/2 years ago…. the Flip Mino.
I’m sure you’ve seen these things around town. Moms whip these little babies out of their purses at the drop of a hat when I’m at a P.T.A. function. The Flip is so tiny I keep in in my purse all the time so I don’t miss the day to day stuff with my kids. I can get them playing an impromptu game of soccer in the backyard like I did last night. Or in the car singing a silly song on the way to Grammy’s house. The little stuff that really counts.
This is my favorite part. Are you ready? You can plug it straight into your computer to download and edit your home movies. How brilliant is that?
Kris,
I promise it’s the coolest. So tiny you can whip it out and get even the most impromptu cuteness of your kids.
I have been interested in getting a Flip for a while now. It is definitely on my list of things I would love!
