final posts on design mom.

I finished off my last couple posts for Design Mom on Friday. I didn’t know there were people in the world who don’t play with makeup for hours every day and pore over fashion magazines to see how eyeliner is being worn this season.

Apparently though, there are women out there inventing things instead of primping their eyelashes. It’s been a lot of fun to hear the feedback. Go see my post on how to create a smoky eye here, and how to create an everyday eye here. They were my most fun posts yet.

Would you like to know what happens when a mother takes a day applying makeup, shooting photos, and then editing said photos for a couple of articles?

Doesn’t he look proud? I think P really *made the look special* by adding the lipstick bloody nose, don’t you? It gives him a certain something.

It got worse before there was nothing left to see at all.

We’re still washing off eyeliner.

Very attractive little boy. My two year old said to me the other day as I was applying mascara, "mommy paint eyes." I thought it was cute. Actually, I thought your post were very helpful since I have been stuck in a rut of wearing the same eye shadow combination for the last ten years or so. Now I know how to switch it up a little. Thank you!!!!!!!!!

    Haaa!!!!

I'll admit I don't wear makeup every day. I think the last time I wore makeup was in March for a concert!

  3. thedoodlegirl :

bwhahahahaaa! The pics of your little guy are hilarious! Fun tips for mascara!

  4. Petit Elefant :

    likeschocolate,

oh, he's pretty fetching in clown makeup, right? you're welcome for the tips, let me know how it turns out!

    lizzie,

i really don't either, but if i'm going out in public i don't want to scare people, so i try to throw a little something on.

    thedoodlegirl,

i can't gender discriminate with makeup right? girls can't have all the fun.

  5. Azúcar :

His smoky eyes last night were a riot!

    What a rock star!

  6. Petit Elefant :

    Azucar,

I don't discriminate. Boys need to try out a little smokey eye once in a while too right?

  7. Condo Blues :

Looks like he's auditioning to play the Joker in the next Batman movie!

  8. likeschocolate :

p.s. so seriously sad that they no longer have elephant glasses at IKEA after I drove all the way into town. Did find some other cool ones though minus elphants.

  9. Naomi :

Not sure I dig his Courtney Love look. Eek!

You are more than welcome to give me an eye makeup tutorial while we're in NY. I have never really gotten the hang of it.

  10. MostlyFlumxd :

Whoa! That last one is like a poster for why it is bad to party. Adorable and messy, my kind of kid.

  11. Petit Elefant :

    Neva,

My kids are messy 24/7. It's part of the rite of childhood, no?

    Condo Blues,

He does look a little bit like the joker doesn't he? I thought the lipstick bloody nose was especially awesome.

    likeschocolate,

nooooooooo! I'm so sad to hear that. We're digging the elephant ones; just hope they don't break anytime soon.

    Naomi,

He does look like Courtney Love! A total train wreck! Oh the fun we can have in NYC with makeup, if you'll just let me. {rubbing hands together} makeover!

  12. Kristie Holland :

very gross and funny all at the same time. You have a great camera.

  13. MarySquare :

Oh that cracks me up in so many ways! Yay for Mr. C! And he looks like — well, almost Robert Smith, but closer to Dee Snyder.

  14. Petit Elefant :

    MarySquare,

Robert Smith, yes! Not sure the look P was going for, but she definitely achieved, uh, something.

    Our Life,

That's funny you say that because I'm jonesing for a really good one. It's a Canon Powershot A560 which sucks batteries dry in 30 minutes flat and has been immersed in water at least once. I've discovered it's all in the editing.

  15. Meg :

I really enjoyed your posts on design mom! Very refreshing and fun. I especially liked the eye makeup ones. I'm strictly a liner and mascara girl, never even tried eyeshadow!!! Know that your troubles of taking pictures of every little step has helped out one girl in her mid 20's!! Not to get too personal or mushy here, but I've recently been diagnosed with cancer and the days that I will have eyelashes are numbered. So I really needed this, because a girls got to feel pretty, and eyeshadow may be the trick to that pretty soon here. Thank you! Hopefully I get it right!

  16. Donna :

Sephora is my favorite place to be!

  17. ALC :

I also LOVE makeup brushes and have a little more than I actually need. What is wrong with us? There's something a little like painting when you've got a nice brush and some fun makeup (not painting in P.'s sense of course.) BTW P…you rock my world! I loved the touch of blood.
