I’m obsessed with magazines. It’s a sickness, much like my problem with shoes. It’s all I can do to get through the check-out line at the grocery store without piling a heap onto the conveyor belt.
A few weeks ago I varied from my usual magazine route of Real Simple, Martha Stewart, People, US Weekly, and snatched up a Family Circle.
Stop the presses. This stuff is good.
It’s literally been years and years since I’ve read Family Circle, probably in a doctors office somewhere. I have to say, I’m really impressed. Great articles about style, re-purposing and thrifting pieces for your home, organizing, recipes. The usual magazine fare, but for $1.99 a pop.
Go check one out at your local library or treat yourself to a bathtub night with the latest copy from the grocery store. You might be surprised at how much you like it. I was.
Do you have a thing for magazines or are you blog only readers? If you’re still reading a hard copy, what’s your poison? Do tell.
I share your affinity for magazines…there is something so wonderful about getting a crisp brand new magazine to flip through. I will have to check out Family Circle – I never think about that one. Good call!
I love Family Circle! At first, I felt a little old reading it, I was 27 at the time. But I'm a magazine freak so I added it to my list. I currently get about 9 or 10 a month in my mail ranging from Family Circl to Lucky.
I can myself a magazine addict! At the moment, I have a stack I haven't read and can't believe I haven't been able to catch up! I will have to check out Family Circle.
I am obsessed with magazines!! Amazon has amazing sales on them sometimes…like $5.00 for a year's subscription crazy! I LOVE when magazines come in the mail for me. I feel like it's Christmas each time. And, like you, I can NOT go to the store without leaving or browsing a magazine. I haven't read Family Circle in a really long time. It looks like they have updated their style. I'll have to check it out. There's nothing like a new magazine to make me happy. But here's the crazy thing about me…I will NOT take the first copy. I will look through the stack and find one that looks like it hasn't been touched!
I was just looking at a Family Circle at the Jiffy Lube yesterday! I'm a sucker for magazines with pictures of food and recipes. I subscribe (free) to the Kraft Food & Family magazine and I can't get through the grocery store line without looking at: Taste of Home, Food Everyday (Martha), or Bon Appetit. Makes me wish I could cook. :)
magazines=crack
That's all I have to say about that.
I love magazines but I always forget what I read in them. So I cut out the pages I want and put them in a folder…and then forget about them! :)
I'm obsessed with magazines as well…I subscribe to so much, they're piling up under my guestroom bed. Reading blog are fun but there's nothing like curling up with a magazine & a cup of coffee on the couch!
Hi there,
I'm Genn. I have been following your blog for a while now and I thought I'd introduce myself.
I have been receiving Family Circle in the mail for free for some reason, for the last few months now. I too really really like it! I've tried a few of the recipes, and I love the style section. It's a magazine gem that's still somewhat of a secret. :)
Family circle reminds me of my childhood. My mom loves the magazine. Hey! It tried the bath bombs. Mine where really dry and I had to add a lot more olive oil. Learned the hard way that you can't just add extra water. Becomes a fizzy mess. I also just free formed mine because I couldn't get them out of the cookie scoop without them crumbling. Pray they dry tonight. Need them for German School in the morning.
I love magazines and my husband gives me a hard time about the constant piles of them in our house. My current faves are Family Circle, Rachael Ray, and Parents.
Everytime I click on your blog and see those bath bombs at the top of the page I think "Those look delish!" Yuck!
I love anything w/ pages and pictures!! Home decor makes me giddy! I love finding Mary Englebright (sp) home at the thrift store!! It is my Fav!
At one point we had 8 magazine subscriptions coming to our house. Does that make me an addict? Glamour, Allure, In Style, People, Real Simple, church mags (do they count), and a magazine for my husband (ASC). Now we only get 2 or 3 though I do love to sift through them at the grocery store.
I LOVE magazines but as a student they don't really fit my budget :( I subscribe to Bon Appetite and Real Simple (which is my favorite) but I flip through new issues of so many others while at the library!
Oh I LOVE magazines! It IS a sickness ;) And I also really like Family Circle. I just recently got myself a subscription for like next to nothing!
I am boring and pretentious, so I can't help but read The New Yorker and The Economist. Sometimes Foreign Policy and Cook's Illustrated/Cook's Country (I AM SO DORKY.) If I'm feeling especially naughty, it's Dwell and Vogue.
I also subscribe to Atomic Ranch, which is a complete gem.
Its great to know that Family Circle has a newer feel and look to it. I'll check it out!
I just wrote about my magazine addiction and the OCD/anal-retentive way I have to read them. It's a little (okay, a lot) ridiculous, but hey, it's cheaper than crack.
I think.

I love Family Circle! My mom subscribes to it and I usually get it when she finishes reading it.
I adore magazines. Love. There's nothing like them. They whisk me away just like a novel does, but more forgiving of dashing off to screaming preschoolers.
I just let my subscription to Real Simple go (cue: tears). I felt it was a little out of my budget — plus my mom gets it and barely reads it, so since I see her a few times a month – voila! – I will get her copies.
I get Redbook (have you tried? you should! It's like a more realistic Glamour mixed with a younger-vibe Ladies Home Journal). Parents magazine (see: preschoolers mentioned above). And The New Yorker. Honestly, some weeks I barely read all the cartoons, but we love it.
Cheers!
magazines make me really happy. Real SImple. Better Homes and Gardens. The occasional In Style or House Beautiful. Even National Geographic (because when you can get a year's subscrip for $8, you just do it).
I love that I’m hearing about others that love magazines. Can you believe my library system loans them out?!!! It’s awesome. I still love to own and possess though and I have also been surprised recently by the the style and information in Family Cirlce. It wasn’t always so. I believe there must be a new direction possibly with a new editor.

Mine does too, but only OLD ones, I love that yours does! Magazines are my lifeblood.
Just wanted you to know that Family Circle is soooo cool, that if you subscribe to their little magazine the cover you get in the mail is stripped down and looks REALLY pretty. Like artistic. Meaning not covered in $1.99 or any of the key phrases to get you to open it up…just the lovely photo. AWESOME!
