We are just now driving home from what will be our last *official* trip of the Summer {that won’t stop us from traveling year-round!} since schools starts next week for the kids. We’re all absorbing the last hours of it, since we’ve had what can only be called The Best Summer We’ve Ever Had. We’ve been here and there, back and forth, out and about, having fun every single step of the way.
Our last Summer Stop was in Boise {Meridian} Idaho. What is there to do in Boise you say? Well, hang out as a family, that’s what. Victor and I met and fell in love in college in a small Idaho town so we have glowing memories of the place, and the drive from Salt Lake City to Boise is beautiful. All wide open spaces, and farms on rolling hills. We love it here.

We were guests of Country Inn & Suites in Boise, and we’d stay with them any time. The kids each got an cute little backpack sack when we checked in with crayons, a map to color, and goggles for the hotel pool. It was the goggles that really won them over. Not to mention the cookies available at the front desk 24/7 and a book lending library.
My favorite part? We had an in room refrigerator and microwave so we were able to save money on food by eating in our room, and we had a door separating the kids from our room. Let me repeat that: we had our own room with a *locking door*. And that’s all I have to say about that.
If the kids had done nothing but swim in the hotel pool, eat cookies, and watch Spongebob Squarepants {on their own TV, in their own room} the kids would have been thrilled to bits. The service was fantastic, the staff friendly, the hotel made for families.
Victor and I loved the free Wi-Fi and free breakfast {an honest-to-goodness breakfast!} and we can’t wait to come back. I hear there’s a hotel in Honolulu, don’t you think we need to go see if it’s *family friendly*?
Looks like a nice place to stay. I love the drive to Boise. I love the openness, it reminds me of growing up in the Midwest.
I love the open feel of Idaho too Donna!
Boise is a great place to visit… They have a wonderful little town outside called McCall where my husband was born :) We love it there as well!!! Thanks for sharing :)
Hey, I'm from southern Idaho so I say this with all the fondness in the world — but the drive from Burley to Boise isn't necessarily the most gorgeous drive ever. If you're into wide open spaces and sage brush, which I in fact do, then it's a great drive, otherwise — try not to fall asleep.
I'm so glad you had such a wonderful stay — laughing about the "locking door" comment. Thank you so much for sharing your family with ours, and yes, hopefully someday… Honolulu! :-)
