children’s book: home for a bunny.

You may remember that I have a bit of a thing for Golden Books. All the classic stories from my childhood, and I can find them at thrift stores for .50 cents each! What’s not to love?

I scored big time at Savers a few weeks ago. Just over $5 for the stack you see here. Sweet.

My favorite at right now: ‘Home For A Bunny’ by Margaret Wise Brown. Many of my favorite children’s book are written by good old Margaret. She has a way with words.

The illustrations are pretty priceless too. They have a very soft, early childhood vibe to them. Almost Sarah Jane like in their innocence.

My favorite part? This cute little groundhog’s excitement over Spring. I imagine that’s how I’ll feel once it actually shows up around here.

I adore this book! This was the first book I ever read by myself; somewhere my dad has a recording of three-year-old me reciting it. And I'm just now making the connection that this is the same Margaret Wise Brown who also wrote the classic "Runaway Bunny" which I wasn't familiar with till I was introduced to it via Margaret Edson's play "Wit" — one of the play's themes deals with family and uses the metaphor of storybook bunnies and — I'm rambling now and will go away.
