You may remember that I have a bit of a thing for Golden Books. All the classic stories from my childhood, and I can find them at thrift stores for .50 cents each! What’s not to love?
I scored big time at Savers a few weeks ago. Just over $5 for the stack you see here. Sweet.
My favorite at right now: ‘Home For A Bunny’ by Margaret Wise Brown. Many of my favorite children’s book are written by good old Margaret. She has a way with words.
The illustrations are pretty priceless too. They have a very soft, early childhood vibe to them. Almost Sarah Jane like in their innocence.
My favorite part? This cute little groundhog’s excitement over Spring. I imagine that’s how I’ll feel once it actually shows up around here.

I adore this book! This was the first book I ever read by myself; somewhere my dad has a recording of three-year-old me reciting it. And I'm just now making the connection that this is the same Margaret Wise Brown who also wrote the classic "Runaway Bunny" which I wasn't familiar with till I was introduced to it via Margaret Edson's play "Wit" one of the play's themes deals with family and uses the metaphor of storybook bunnies and I'm rambling now and will go away.
where do you find these (stores)?
Also, I'm so sorry you didn't get to run your race. truly
Great bargain! I love Golden Books and have fun picking them up at garage sales.
I had that book when I was little. Thanks for bringing back a happy memory. Love those books, too.
I still have some of the golden books from my childhood and we've had such fun adding to the collection with our little boys. I confess, I thought I'd read them all but I don't know this one!
