Here are the ingredients for my special Chocolate Chip & Craisin Cookies. One of these things is not like the other; remember that from Sesame Street? One of these things helps mommy get through the hour of baking cookies after a really, really long flight home from NYC. Here’s what goes in, minus the Diet Dr. Pepper. That’s all for me thanks. Chocolate Chip Craisin Cookies {makes about 2 dozen} 3/4 C white sugar 3/4 C packed brown sugar 1…

alphabet wall
I love alphabet decor for a children’s space–play room, bedroom, nursery, or even a family room when done just right. Rather liking this concept, found via Oh Dee Doh, via Spearmint Baby var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://ssl." : "http://www."); document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + gaJsHost + "google-analytics.com/ga.js' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E")); var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("UA-3347741-1"); pageTracker._initData(); pageTracker._trackPageview();
finished bathroom remodel.
The beautiful kids bathroom project {nightmare} is over. It took approximately 4 years, 285 days, and 3 hours. Not too shabby. I am proud to say however, we didn’t hire out a single part of the bathroom. Viktor did all the wiring, plumbing, & tiling. I did the grunt work like the paint, grout, scrubbing. Awesome. The grant total price of the bathroom, top to bottom was $1,200. I’m really proud of that. Especially considering the fact that when we…

Homemade granola
Fall is officially here—hooray for my favorite season! Time to bring out the sweaters, the scarves, the cute little boots that I bought last spring in anticipation of this season! And time to bust out all the great fall recipes. Time to bring out the pumpkin! I love all things pumpkin. Pumpkin pie, pumpkin soup, pumpkin cookies. So when I came across a recipe for pumpkin granola, I had to try it out. It’s still piping hot from the oven…

home canned tomatoes in the pantry.
This year marked my fifth for freezer jam, my third for canning peaches and applesauce, and my first for canning tomatoes. Now that it’s all done; the tomatoes weren’t nearly as tricky as I’d expected and were actually easier than the peaches. No worries about them turning brown like peaches, no extra step of pureeing like applesauce. And they look so pretty and autumnal on my pantry shelf.
great thrift store bargains.
{Stack of melamine strawberry plates for a cousin of mine who’s obsessed with all things strawberry? .50 cents each} I’m a thrift store junkie. I blame it on a childhood deprived of the finer things in life. I learned early on to find things on the cheap, led my my father, the King of D.I. D.I. {short for Deseret Industries} is a thrift store operated by the church I belong to, and it. is. enormous. And as far as thrift…

A little design inspriation
Cookie did a great feature on study/creativity spaces for kids. They are all fantastic but I’m especially fond of this one: var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://ssl." : "http://www."); document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + gaJsHost + "google-analytics.com/ga.js' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E")); var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("UA-3347741-1"); pageTracker._initData(); pageTracker._trackPageview();
downloadable craft book for kids.
My dear clever friend Marie {from Make and Takes} has written a book. Can I get a *hip hip hooray*? If you’ve ever been to Marie’s site you know it’s full of great how-to’s. Especially those really adorable crafty ones. She’s a crafty goddess, and she’s offering the chance for each of us to take a peek into the crafty magic that is her world. What I’m really trying to say is *Lo! Marie has written a book! And it’s…

IKEA is my first true love.
If you don’t have anything nice to say about IKEA, don’t say anything at all. At least within my hearing distance. I love that place to bits and pieces. We spent what felt like the entire day today at IKEA getting finishing details for the new bathroom. Stuff you need, but don’t think about until the end of the project. Like a toilet paper holder, towel rack, garbage can. It’s not glamorous but somebody has to do it. Aside from…
