Today I’m turning off the computer and heading to the pool. The kids are antsy, the house is messy, and a holiday weekend is upon us. Time to relax, unwind, and play a little Marco Polo. I’m leaving you with a recipe and a craft. The recipe for 4th of July fruit kabobs can be found at Make and Takes and the craft at SER.EN.DIP.I.TY. Happy 4th of July weekend!

wooden sailboats for kids
Such darling little wooden sailboats from my latest Etsy discovery, tweet. Darling indeed. But what else would you expect from the hands of a mommy named Willow. Isn’t it the loveliest name? She sent along this darling handmade dotty sailboat and everyone at my house loves it! wooden dotty sailboat, $16 “Dotty” took her maiden voyage last night. In the bathtub, of course. A smashing success. I’m crazy about the simplicity of these boats (little row-boats, too!) and charmed by…

Try something new. That’s my tip for today. Are you a yogi? Try Tae Bo. Love running? Go for a swim. Your body needs to be confused every once in a while if you’re going to get and stay in killer shape. You’ve gotta confuse those muscles! Go get ’em tigers.
kids in the garden
Without fail, if I’m working in the yard, my toddler wants to work in the yard. With the big heavy grown up sized shovels and rakes. I’ve searched high and low and I may have found the perfect solution at Main Street Supply. The website is decidedly no-frills, but…

how to: make homemade finger paint.
My toddler and I tapped into our creativity to make some sweet Father’s Day cards this morning, each one original, finger-painted with love. We both had fun and enjoyed the leftovers. A great little project for pre-schoolers. you will need: 1 small package instant pudding, prepared & chilled (for our bears, we used chocolate pudding. you could use vanilla tinted with food coloring) heavy duty paper/cardstock a template to trace onto your card OR a free-hand outline (truck, fish, bear, anything…

birthday party ideas for toddlers.
My little boy’s birthday will be upon me in no time. He’s turning 3 and I can hardly believe it. We are considering a low-key birthday party this year–not too long, not too many guests–and I’ve been brainstorming some ideas, one of which is a baseball party. Some inspiration: grand slam cupcakes martha stewart a quick inning of t-ball a fun pennant-style banner sorta like this one made by her for her (image here) Stadium food, stadium style hot dogs &…

great sand toys.
We do a lot of digging around these parts. Digging, playing in sand, playing in water, and digging again. I think it’s an inevitable part of having a preschool boy. Any boy for that matter. We’re always on the lookout for indestructible {or at least one Summer season} sand toys and have found the solution: Haba toys. Designed with C in mind, I think. Haba Spilling Funnel $10.79 {via Maukilo} I’m eyeing this for thirsty little adventurers. Haba Corsario Water…
