feeling festive

Like so many others, I adore autumn time. Everything about it; so many lovely things to embrace. I don’t, however, adore Halloween. It’s ok, and it’s a fun time for kids, but so much about it is kitschy and obnoxious. And have you seen the gobs and gobs of decorations in stores and catalogs? Lots of very adorable and expensive things, but also some kooky stuff. It’s a big deal, commercially. I for one prefer to festoon my home for…

fun & easy children’s birthday party idea.

My little sister hosted a really adorable birthday party for her 3-year-old son over the weekend and I had to share it with you. She procured some teddy bear *condos* from Build-A-Bear and used them as invitations. The kids met at the store in the mall to make their own bears, and then we had a *Teddy Bear Picnic* at a local park. Individually packed lunches for the kids with name tags. In little tiny picnic baskets no less. {see…

nutritionist from petit elefant.

When I outlined who was a part of the behind-the-scenes magic of Petit Elefant a little while ago, I neglected to mention our resident nutritionist. What’s wrong with me? {don’t answer that} I don’t know. Rachele Foushee-Beck is a nutritionist who’s been with Petit Elefant since April, sharing all kinds of really relevant nutrition information for women. i made the finals!

Go to Disneyland without me.* The thought never even occurred to me, but he planted it in my head so I guess it’s okay. I entered on his prompting and guess what? I’m a finalist! This is the part where I blatantly beg,…

Did you catch my sweet friend Nie Nie on Oprah today? She made me proud to be a mother, and hardly cried a bit. Me on the other hand, well. I needed a few tissues to get through the show. And P.S. didn’t she look beautiful? Super foxy. {image via Oprah}

cute workout gear for women.

So, I just kicked some serious booty in my favorite kickboxing class. Somebody got figuratively beat up by yours truly and it felt awesome! Afterward, I was chatting it up with the gals on my way out of class, laughing¸ basking in the natural high that comes from all those squats, jabs, and uppercuts. I was a sweaty mess (who knew there are sweat glands in kneecaps?). I passed by a full length mirror in the locker room and stopped…
