things to be grateful for.

I’m in a bit of a funk, so I’m starting a once a week series where I’m going to share something I’m grateful for. I thought about it last night and realized if I took away the hard things in my life, I have more than an abundance of happiness and gratitude. Here’s what I’m grateful for this week: my children I know it’s cliche, but my children are literally what I live for. I’ve wanted to be a mother…

eat. blog. run. drop-out.

I spent the weekend in San Francisco. Not a bad place to go really, especially when it was snowing in Utah and San Francisco was nothing but sunny skies and 68 degree weather. The trip was bittersweet for me; I had to drop out of the Eat.Blog.Run relay race, but I went to San Francisco anyway to cheer on the team from the sidelines. Want to venture a guess as to why I was forced to bail out of a…

justin hackworth + 30 strangers.

Surely you’ve heard of Justin Hackworth and his 30 Strangers project? He’s a local {Utah} photographer and I love him. It’s really simple: he’s an extremely pleasant person {we could hang for hours}, he’s got a fantastic aesthetic, and he’s obscenely talented. What more could you ask for in a photographer? He’s done this really cool project for the last few years called 30 Strangers where he photographs mothers and their daughters to raise money and awareness for The Center…

earth day round-up.

Are you doing anything special for Earth Day today? Tie Dying anything? Wearing your favorite pair of Birkenstock sandals? I might whip out a craft or two this afternoon, but right now the earthiest thing on my agenda is going to feed the horses. Which is awfully earthy if you really think about it. I always end up with lots of earth, and poopy earth at that, on my shoes when I’m through. Sounds fun, right? Lots of people more…

why it’s good to have a best friend.

I have loads of friends from the blogging world, without whom my life would be a bleak abyss of lameness. But there’s something to be said for a best friend from childhood. Someone who doesn’t let you get away with anything at all. My best friend just called. We’ve known each other since we were three, maybe younger. We’re only 5 months apart in age and we’ve advanced through every awkward stage of life together. Charming and her daughter were…

science experiment with flowers.

My kids decided to do an experiment with flowers this weekend while I was busy basking in the sun. They picked three daffodils from the front garden patch and put them in a tall glass of blue food coloring. The kids were curious what would happen to the flowers if they drank the blue dye. I was curious too, when I found out they were experimenting in the kitchen without my knowledge. Turns out? It’s a pretty awesome experiment. The edges…

stand in for viktor.

I was thinking last night about who should play Marlboro Man in the movie adaptation of Ree Drummond’s life story, {clearly I’m avoiding work by surfing the internets} and I decided it should be Neal McDonough, aka Lieutenant Buck Compton from Band of Brothers. I’m prepared for the day the casting directors call to get my opinion on the matter. Which got me to thinking, who would play Viktor in a movie about my life? Liev Schreiber, that’s who. He’s…
