Pirate!

This little terrorist has been in my life for just over 6 years now. I think I’ll keep him.

Cousins

I’m backed up today.  Teaching classes at the church, baking, cleaning out my food storage and pantry, packing for a trip next week, and doing laundry.  I’m going to try my darnedest to get a post up about Mighty Summit, so stay tuned. For now, I’m leaving you with a photo of my sweet Precocious and her cousin, taken right after the 4th of July parade last summer.  Neither of these girls has a sister, but they love and fight…

The Moving Wall: Vietnam Memorial

the moving wall

The Vietnam Memorial moving wall came through our town last week, and it was pretty phenomenal.  Visiting the actual memorial in Washington D.C. is definitely on my list of things to do with my kids, and soon, so I was thrilled when the moving wall came for a visit. When I rounded the corner in the cemetery, where the moving wall was set up, I felt like I’d been slammed in the chest a little.  I was overwhelmed by the…

B. Toys Summer Contest Winners.

The summer quote contest I told you about at the beginning of August is now over.  There were two winners!  Booyah. The first place winner of the B. Your face isn’t blue!”. Troy responded as he was looking down at his crayon box, “I couldn’t find my…

My Life List, So Far

beach front hotel in california

This month, over my birthday weekend in fact, I’m going to attend the Mighty Summit in the Russian River Valley, outside of San Francisco.  To say I’m excited doesn’t cover it.  A small, hand selected group of some of the smartest women in social media for a weekend of brain trusting and pampering?  Yes, please. Part of the deal with the Mighty Summit is coming up with a Life List.  You know, like a bucket list only less grim.  I…

family weddings.

bride

My little sister got married today.  And while family weddings are usually a nightmare, this one was a pretty low-key affair.  My sister bought her wedding dress at a prom dress store for $90 on clearance, no one wore anything matching, and flowers were only purchased for the parents and the bride and groom. This is my favorite shot from the whole day.  They both look like the cat that got the cream. The bouquet was beautiful.  Made by a…

training for a relay

running

Remember a few months ago how I was supposed to run this awesome relay race with a team my blogging B.F.F. Marie LeBaron put together called Eat. Blog. Run.? I trained, I got blisters, I cried, I worked really hard, and in the end stupid Lupus won and I had to drop out of the race.  I still went to San Francisco to cheer my teammates on in their amazing race, but it nearly broke my heart. When I got…
