homemade sidewalk paint

— This is a re-posting of an article from last Summer’s archives.  While I’m away in Europe I thought I’d give you a tour of my blog.  I’ve got years of content to delve into and plenty of fun content to keep you entertained while I’m away. — We made homemade sidewalk chalk paint at our house last week, and it was a big, fat hit. It’s basically liquid sidewalk chalk you paint onto the sidewalk with a brush. So…

The incident of the saw and the stitches

stitch

You guys, it’s been the longest week in the history of weeks. The whole family got strep throat over the weekend last week, went to our various doctors for a diagnosis, and started on antibiotics on Monday. Strep throat + Lupus = bad news.  Taking care of 2 sick kids with strep throat while I had strep throat = double awesome. Wednesday we had the State Science Fair for Precocious at B.Y.U.  We all trooped in, up to our necks…

Flip Giveaway

— This giveaway is now closed.  Thanks for entering! —  The winner is Ashlee. Let’s talk about Cancer for a minute.  Cancer shouldn’t really get any face time at all anywhere, because the disease is the worst.  In fact next to Lupus, Cancer is my 2nd least favorite disease of all time. how to recipe for homemade clay

playdoh

My mom used to make clay for us when we were little, in big huge batches.  We’d all put on aprons and sidle up to the kitchen table on snowy afternoons where we played away for hours. The recipe couldn’t be easier, and making homemade clay with your kids is a really great activity.  There’s lots of measuring and mixing and distracting from the fact that mommy probably feels a little bit bananas and needs something for the little people…

My friend Justin Hackworth is a photographer, an amazing one at that, who does this really cool project every year called 30 Strangers.  I was a part of it with my cute daughter last year and it was an amazing experience.  It’s an…

Skiing with kids for the first time

skiing with kids

–This giveaway is now closed.  The winner is: Suzanne Crunchy Green Mom– We’re an active family.  We just are.  There’s not any help for it, so I’ve just embraced it.  My husband can’t sit still, and my kids are genetically programmed to be like him, happiest while in motion.  There is one sport I fought for years though: skiing. I didn’t grow up skiing; it’s just not economically feasible for a family with 8 kids {outside the Kennedy family} to…

Happy Valentine’s Day Friends!

cupcake

Happy Valentine’s Day! We don’t really subscribe to the whole thing at my house {AHEM, Viktor}, so it’s pretty low key around here today, holiday wise.  But if you’re itching to get your craft on, I did a Valentine’s Day Craft roundup last week with a few fun ideas to try. Just a few things going on around here at Petit Elefant you might want to know about: I have TWO, yes TWO Old Navy Giveaways live right now, each…

homemade valentine's day ideas

I’ve only been home from traveling for about 36 hours, so the homemade craft department is a little bit kaputz for the time being.  I have super crafty friends however, who’ve been crafting up a Valentine’s storm for the last few weeks, and I have a few of their home made Valentine’s Day ideas to share. The Strawberry Heart Valentine’s Box is from Kami at No Biggie.  Stop being so adorably cute and peppy Kami, you’re killing me here. These…
