blue room.

I’ve always wanted a Blue room. Much like I’ve always wanted a Red one. Victor says no to Red, but he didn’t have a say about Blue. Last time he went out of town I painted the Family Room Blue. Spa Blue, to be exact. The room is far from being done, but I thought I’d at least show you the paint. What do you think? The top photo kind of gives you a scale of the room {narrow!} but the color is wrong, so I tweaked the colors in the bottom photo to give you a better idea. What do you think? Help me decorate! Where would you put a couch? Couches, or two love seats? Coffee table? Shelves on the walls? Seriously, I need advice. It looks exactly the same today as it did when I took this photo a month ago and I need the room to be finished, so help a sister out.

{note: the carpet is awful, I know that. that’s why I may have accidentally/on purpose painted the carpet blue. that way we have to replace it now}

    I happen to love blue. I say two love seats, and a focal point over the fire place like a large mirror or piece of artwork (you could just prop it on the mantle or you could hang it). End tables, but no coffee table, with lamps to tie things together. Maybe an arrangement of family photos over one of the love seats, either hung on the wall or propped on shelves. On the other wall, maybe do a mirror or artwork, whichever didn’t go on the mantle. Good luck with the carpet! I’m sure you’ll pull it all together beautifully.

    Love it! I’m no help decorating but I like the blue. I think it’s calming and pretty.

    Danielle,
    That site is awesome, thank you!

    What a great color of blue! I cannot wait until I live in a place that I can paint.

    My only suggestion would be to maybe ditch the couch and add 4 single chairs… unless this is your main TV viewing area, then I’d switch to a love seat and two chair.

    You could always just throw a bunch of love sacs and banana chairs in there.

    Sorry… i am no help!

    I was so excited to see your post and love that you have opened up your blog for suggestions. I’m just a mom who loves to decorate as my hobby/outlet, and I’d love to comment on your space! I love the wall color! I have blue in my house too, and love it because it’s so calming! Depending on the shade of blue, wood pieces with a painted black finish or pieces with dark cherry/walnut would look great against the walls. I suggest a small/cheap flat screen above the fireplace. Two comfy chairs flanking the fireplace. A loveseat in the middle of the room facing the fireplace. A sofa table behind the loveseat for drinks and decor. A collage of family pics on the wall with the window. And a narrow long desk and chair on the other wall. A small ottoman in front of the loveseat for kicking up your feet or a spot to play games. Looks like a great room with lots of possibilities! Enjoy!
