how to: start knitting.

Now that the holidays are over and life is slowing down, it is time to sit and relax and learn something new. First let me introduce myself. I’m Lori Van Wagoner. I’ve been asked to share a few basic knitting techniques and patterns with you Petit Elefant readers and I am very excited to do so. I’ve been knitting for about four years. I am by no means an expert, but I know enough to teach you the basics and provide some patterns for quick projects that will knock the socks off your friends and family.

If you have never knit before, here are a list of links to videos that will help you get started. There are thousands of online knitting tutorials available. If you need more instruction just browse YouTube for awhile.

Because I am a slave to instant gratification, I have chosen a few baby projects that knit up very quickly. Together we’ll make a pair of leg warmers, a beanie, and a sweater. Plus, there will be a giveaway that includes all of the materials (including yarn, needles, crochet hook, patterns and stitch markers) needed to make the complete set.

Cute, huh? There will be a tutorial each day this week, so check back to see which project we’ll be knitting. Get those knitting needles dusted off and on Tuesday we’ll get started!

What a neat idea. I watched all the video even though I have been knitting for some time.
