bad fashion week part 6

You guys, I don’t really know what to say about these.  I mean, aside from the fact that they’re totally Jersey Shore.  Trashy looking.  Dated.  Hideous.

They feel especially small town.  I see them all over town, with rhinestones on the bum no less, and I think “Ladies please, there’s another way!”.

You know what’s worse?

blue jeans white stitchingWhen dudes wear them.

Stop the insanity.

I love how you so kindly used the word “small-town”. haha! Yes, these are trashy.

  2. Jerilee E. :

oh man, now I can’t read your blog anymore!!

  3. Sarah :

Ha ha ha, I couldn’t agree more. I love when I am walking down the halls of my sons middle school and I see Mothers wearing these jeans and I think ” no, you don’t look 17, sorry.”. I wish that I could send this article to so many people, you know, anonymously :)

  4. Leigh :

    Thank You!

  5. Lori C. :

Thank you for this! I would like to put this post on a big sign and hang it all over my little town.

    Love from Lori C.

  6. Qui :

    i couldn’t agree more!!!
    hideous…

  7. Dani :

YES! I have never understood this at all! So bad.

  8. Andy :

This is something we don’t see here on the east coast. On people or in stores. But something I have been quite curious about on our recent trips to Ut. I found myself staring at everyone in line at Cafe Rio wondering where I missed the glitter bum memo. I’m glad to see it spelled out here. Where does one even purchase these? I’m feeling a lot better today after last week’s sweater post. The (horrible) sweater trend being the only one you’ve featured for which I’ve been a tragic part of, at some point in my life. I’d like to mention those sweaters were 1985’s fault. And the Eddie Bauer warehouse sale’s fault. I was a helpless victim.

  9. jill :

these jeans are typically accompanied by an overly teased crown, fake nails, lots of chiccos jewelry and a shirt that is two sizes too small. at least that’s been my experience!

  10. j. caroline :

Gosh, I’m so glad you can’t see what I have on today. But just to clarify, my rhinestones are on the FRONT, where I believe they are much more classy.

  11. Alicia W. :

I’m glad I am not the only one who does not care for these jeans.

  12. mrs. r :

I don’t mind the ones in the bottom left corner …since I OWN THEM! LOL I like that it gives the illusion that I have junk in trunk.

    The skulls though? Um, what?

    Great post!

  13. Tia :

Hi Allison – Gotta agree with you! I was thinking at first, “that’s not that bad!” Then I tried to think of times where I’ve seen it and it was okay. :) Not too many. I know of one person who makes them work. She’s super thin and all of her stuff is like that, so it seems to fit her personality.

Now, I need to convince myself NOT to buy a BeDazzler. LOL

  14. Pennie :

I can’t think of a lot of situations where rhinestones are ever a good idea….

  15. The Mommy Therapy :

I actually bought a pair of these at, of all places, Costco a few years ago. I must have been in some sort of post baby, lack of sleep haze because I thought they were so cute. When I got them home I looked like a woman that had just given birth trying to put myself in a rap video. It was pretty hideous.

    Ok, it was embarrassingly hideous.

  16. Mandi :

I was just in UT and saw these at every turn. WOW. I love that you included this — very brave!

  17. Lisa Boshell :

YES! Thank you for someone finally saying that these jeans are the worst. I hate them so much. If they would pair nicely with an Ed Hardy t-shirt, they should never see the light of day.

  18. G. :

This cracked me up! I 100% agree with you. I don’t know anyone who would want to draw that much attention to their backside. Obviously, there are some people that want to but, I certainly am not one of them. lol.

  19. Meghan :

THANK YOU! I see far too many people around here (Utah) wearing these… and too many of them are older than me! I definitely agree when you say that they feel “small town” because I see them all over the place in a very small town where I attended high school.

I often see them paired with a very bedazzled ball cap. :/

  20. Rain :

Thank you for this post. You know what’s worse? Is that people shell out $200-500 for each pair…and they seem to be the rage at my child’s school…for the parents, not the children. At that price, I KNOW they save wearing them for every parent/teacher conference, and room parent activity. If they made everyone look like 6 foot 130lb models, then I could see the appeal. Alas, they do not.

  21. r8chel :

I was glad to read Andy’s comment above, because I haven’t seen anything like this at all, and was beginning to wonder whether I’m just completely unobservant. Thank goodness I live on the East Coast!

  22. maile :

yes yes and YES. Please sing is sister. You are SO so so SO right.

  23. Bethaney :

    Amen!
