Bad Fashion Week Series Part 2:
Socks + Sandals
Hold me.
Several members of my extended family do this {cough, cough DAD} and there’s just no help for them.
I’m told this is all over Europe so I just need to put on my big girl panties and not cringe every time I get on a train in Warsaw this summer.
It’s a good thing I don’t speak Polish.

Allison
Hello there! I'm Allison Czarnecki, founder + editor of Petit Elefant, a blog all about style on a budget for every part of your life: style / home / travel / family. I do a lot of how-to beauty + style tutorials, travel posts, easy recipes, home remodel projects, and cool DIY crafts you totally want to try. I'm super happily married (to a hot Polish immigrant) and am the mother of two kids, a daughter and son, all of whom are featured here on the regular. We live in the country but we're a little bit rock + roll. Welcome!
Unfortunately this is for some unknown reason very fashionable inEurope – I was shocked coming from Canada to Germany and seeing socks and sandles. I thought it was just an older generation thing, but it’s not.
No no no! I’m sure some people think it’s more comfortable… but I think they should choose different shoes if they really want to wear socks. And I think socks with flip-flops is the worst!
Amen! (huge shudder)
I feel like this post could be titled… “The Dad”. I staged an intervention myself this past summer for my own father.
Reasons to love Europe…man capri pants, socks with sandals, and speedos. Can’t wait to hear your adventures.
OK that explains it, I am Polish thus this doesn’t offend me. My brother does the flip flops and I prefer the Adidas slide, a soccer team throwback. This does however make my husband run screaming from the room.
One of my husband’s friends does the whole sandal and sock thing and he is not a dad, he is a single guy in his 30’s. We have tried to tell him this is not the way to attract the ladies but he doesn’t listen. He is a really sweet guy but could definitely use some help in the fashion department.
I wear socks with my Birkenstocks all the time… Don’t be a hater….My toes get cold.
THESE ARE DAD’S FEET! I actually get warm fuzzies when I see this fashion combo because it reminds me of someone who contributed half our DNA.
Oh for the crying out loud. This look will never go away as long as there are people who insist on wearing sandals year round and don’t give a rat’s ass.
Socks w Flip Flops confuses me. I mean, not only does it look ridiculous. But ouch.
Oh goodness my husband does this every Sunday. It’s with CHURCH socks which makes it triple awesome
I’ve worn socks with sandals, but they’re handknit beautiful socks that need to be shown off, sandals are the best way to do that. Would never do it in bought socks though, ick! Jandals really should never be worn with socks, even those socks you can knit with the separate pocket for the big toe.
This is even worse than the white pantyhose!
This makes me squirm.
My husband does plan on embarrassing the boys when they are teenagers by employing this technique.
Black socks, brown flip flops.
This is a classic Pacific Northwest look.
