The barber shop commercial I styled a couple weekends ago was so much fun.  14 hours straight of so much fun.

There wasn’t enough room in the barber shop to steam clothes so I was out on the sidewalk.

Seriously.

It was kind of funny trying to steam wardrobe out on the sidewalk in 20 degree weather while manning the Kraft table which was on the back of the director’s car.

I can’t really explain how much work goes into a film shoot.  This commercial is only going to be about a minute long when it’s done, and it was 12 hours of shooting with a crew of about 10 people crammed into a tiny little barber shop.

Bananas.

Would you like to know a little movie trick?  That really awesome aesthetic you see sometimes in films?

Sometimes it’s a fog machine.

Seriously.

The actor for the shoot was amazing.  Reminded me of a younger James Earl Jones.  You should hear his voice.

Like buttah.

The last shot of the day was my absolute favorite.  Everyone was exhausted, the sun was down, it was cold outside, and we’d all been up since 5:00 AM.

Ed, the director, gave some last minute notes to the actor while the light streamed in.  They were reminiscing about something and I grabbed a quick shot before cameras starting rolling.

Total magic.

I’ll be sure to show you the finished project when it’s done being edited.  I can’t wait to see it.
