pregnancy prep 101

hello!
let me introduce myself, i’m marta and am so excited to be guest blogging for petit elefant. thanks for including me in all of the elefant fun! among other things, i am a graphic designer, a wife and a mama to be. i’m at the very end of my nine months of pregnant bliss and wanted to offer up some ideas of mama must haves. hopefully these ideas will spark your imagination for unique shower gifts or simply a must have to spoil yourself with. here goes.

pregnancy prep 101: mama must haves
01. books, books and more books. i especially love informative ones like From the Hips and easy feel good reads like The Art of Expecting. 02. a bottle of bubble bath that foams and whirls around all your new-found curves. when i can’t sleep, i bathe. i enjoy better lather than never available at bath & body works. an oversize luxurious towel wouldn’t hurt either. 03. a keepsake baby book for treasuring your memories. a perfect distraction for the long months of waiting. 04. loads of thank you notes and cute postage stamps. i keep them in the car and write merci during long waits in the doctor’s office or while road tripping with my hubby. 05. baby hangers. stock up on sweet hangers which come in handy for quick organizing once you come home with your lovely loot from your baby showers. 06. pretty tootsies. treat yourself to a pregnancy pedicure and relax those swollen footsies. 07. yoga stretchy pants. i have found myself living in these sassy stretch pants, they are perfect for supporting my belly on long walks and errands around town. and date nights out to the ice cream parlor. seriously, these are the best. 08. a fabulous wall calendar & day planner. this is a true essential for the organized mama to be. from tracking doctor’s appointments to writing notes to self to scheduling childbirth classes, your calendar will be your new best friend. 09. a body pillow. i was foolish and did not buy one; but wish i had. they are inexpensive and available at Target. believe me, there is room in your queen sized bed. don’t let another month go by without one. 10. a pregnancy binder. this will be your new bible; a pocketed place to keep all the very important information from your ultrasound photos to print-outs from the internet. more details to come in my following guest post. bonus: hostess gifts. keep a plethora of fine french soaps, mini candles and deluxe lotions wrapped in cellophane on hand. it’s nice to have something to offer those that spoil you so.

xo.
