Before I had little M, I used a mesh laundering bag for my delicates and unmentionables. No snags or twists or whatnot. Shortly after I had M, I discovered that I needed a couple of extra mesh bags; they are ideal for laundering all the teensy tiny soft baby things that would otherwise get stuck inside the feet of his sleepers, snagged on a zipper, or caught in some remote corner of the washer or dryer, never to be seen again. Just the right thing for little socks, little caps, bibs, even onesies. Even now that he’s 2 years old I still use these bags for his socks and small items.
Also good for: machine-washable shoes, mittens, hats, scarves, soft toys. Just zip them up in the bag and they are protected–as your delicates would be–from the assaults of the washer and other clothes, and vice versa. I’ve even found these little under-$5 wonder tools are great for laundering items that can’t be machine-dried, since I know to look for the bag, even if I’ve forgotten what item I’m supposed to remove from the wad of wet clothes before they all get tossed into the dryer.
The bag shown is from the Container Store, $3.99. Also available anywhere laundry and clothing are items are sold (Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, etc.). Be sure to get one with a zip closure. Actually, be sure to get 2 or 3.

I really need to get some of these! My friend cleaned out her dryer vent and found about 5 baby socks!!! So now I know what to blame for my kids’ drawers of matchless socks.
