I’ve been a Twilight fan from the beginning, through controversy and all, {and by the way enjoying them doesn’t make me any less of an intellectual, I take issue with that} and I love the whole series, even {gasp, sigh!} Breaking Dawn. I was one of those crazy people who went with a group of girlfriends last night to the Midnight showing of the movie adaptation of Twilight. I’m not going to give anything away for those of you who haven’t seen it, but for those of you who have: spill. I want to know what you think. All of you, good, bad, or otherwise.

i haven’t seen it yet, but i just finished reading all 4 books for the 4th time in 4 days (weird, huh?). my husband thinks i’m in love with them. but to be honest, i DON’T love the books. i don’t know how to explain it. they’re not my favorite, i don’t love them, but they are addicting and i can’t seem to put them down. i have had no desire to see the movie but will probably see it at some point.
They (the books) certainly don’t fulfill much intellectually, but they sure have a way of sucking me in. They are entertaining and fun and very escapish. I loved reading them despite the whining, the kissing, the fantasy, the cheesiness… I’m excited to see the movie too definitely the ONLY vampire movie (or book) I have ever considered watching.
I’ve loved her books from the beginning and like you loved Breaking Dawn as well. I’m looking forward to the movie, but won’t see it till later this weekend…can’t wait!
I saw the movie and was highly disappointed. It was ultra cheesy. (I was expecting SOME cheese…) The acting was horrendous, the special effects were laughable (and I DID laugh out loud a few times), and the story didn’t flow. People who hadn’t read the book would be confused. My husband voted it THE worst movie of all time. I almost agree with him.
Hey Alma! Well the movie certainly won’t be recieving any acedemy awards, but it’s silly to expect that it will, afterall the target audience is teenagers. However I loved it! Of course it’s nowhere even comparable to the book but it was enjoyable, Rob and Kristen did good, the effects were something to be desired but I can’t wait to see it again and again.
I read the first three books in a weekend. I didn’t realize they were such a phenomenon and I couldn’t believe they ended with Jacob running away. Then I googled it and realized I’d been living in a closet for a year or two and the next book was coming out in 6 short weeks. I was happy with who they chose for the film. Being a late comer to the series, the entire movie had been cast and I was able to envision them as I read along. As an editor/copywriter, I did have a hard time not grabbing my red pen and circling mistakes as I went along, but the books were fine. Although I plowed through the books I wouldn’t admit there was an obsession. I did develop a little cullen crush, but it went away as soon as I read Pride and Prejudice again. :)
I thought the movie was great. There were cheesy parts, the make-up was a little too dramatic, but it brought all of the gushy feelings back that I got while reading the book. It is fun to just be entertained sometimes without too much analyzing.
Anyway, this comment is on its way to being a 600+ page Meyer novel. Secrest out!
