what make-up brushes you need to get started

Here’s a quick video tutorial on what make-up brushes you need to get started on your make-up adventures.  These are cheap, just get started make-up brushes, not crazy professional expensive ones.  We can get to those eventually.

Enjoy my black eye, I know I will.

Ahh I thought of another makeup tip you can demonstrate: how to either treat or get rid of dark under eye circles. I’m not sure if that’s what I have or bags. They’re definitely puffy. But they’re dark. They’re puffy bags. I’m a catch!

    • Petit Elefant :

Yes! You are a catch. But seriously, I need to do this one because everyone and their mom has bad under eye circles.

I’m sort of a “drive-by” reader on your blog. I come by and read quick and don’t comment that often but, I thought today I would change that. Love your blog, especially the makeup and style tips.
Oh, and so so sorry about your black-eye “incident” I hope you recover soon! :)

    • Petit Elefant :

Thank you for commenting, I appreciate it! I’m doing more and more style and beauty, so I’m happy to hear you like it.

The black eye is getting better every day, thank you!

I LOVE brushes! Here’s my question…how in the world do you stop eye liner from smearing? It just seems that about an hour after I put on my eye liner I look like I have two black eyes, even if I only line the water line too. It’s soooo frustrating! HELP!

    • Petit Elefant :

I think you’re using the wrong eyeliner. I really do. That, or you’re using the wrong foundation and the eyeliner doesn’t have anything to hold onto. Email me, and we’ll remedy the situation.

  4. Hilary :

Hey, this post is really great, I was just thinking about buying some new brushes!

    • Petit Elefant :

      Perfect, I’m glad it helped!

  5. Marie :

You look pretty in this vid! Even with your purple eye. :) Actually, I think the sweater brings out the color!!

AND I never knew that about brushes, really! I’m sure I have them somewhere, gathering dust.

    • Allison :

You have ALL of them, I’ve seen them!

  6. Liz Lemon :

So… what about a “down the line” video. I’m dying to know about the other 2 dozen brushes in that cup!

    • Allison :

Ha. Happily, I’ll tell you, happily.

I don’t remember how I found your blog, as I’m a bit addicted and just keep opening and saving and browsing. I’ve stopped however and have been glued to your beauty and style section. I love your site. I’m one of those tomboy type girls that don’t really understand much about style and why women carry purses (though I just saw your “what in a purse,” so I may figure out the use other than an id and chap stick, lol), but I”m in love with all thing involving color. Recently I’ve really wanted to try on all the frilly stuff and wanting to get all glamorous..it’s taken me 25 years but at least I’ve arrived right?! Anyways, I’ve watched this video a few times now along with some other ones and am thinking I want to start learning this whole make-up thing before I “have to,” ha. Thanks so much for your awesome tips and home prepared goodies. I’m learning tons of great information!!!
