I couldn’t help all the grimacing that came with the talk of mom jeans. It’s a vomitous phrase, really.

Beth :
I love your outfit posts – you are really making me consider trying on a pair of skinny jeans……I keep telling my self I could not pull it off in high School what makes me think I can now…..well…I think I can…maybe :o)
Beth, if I can pull off skinny jeans ANYONE can pull of skinny jeans. Seriously, I do not lie.
Ali :
hey allison! i have to thank you for the significant amount of responsibility you have had in reawakening my love for fashion and the joys of day to day dressing. i lost the fashion spark several years ago after various health issues left me unable to drive for a year and about 40 pounds heavier than normal. then, i had my daughter at 25 weeks and was homebound again for another 6 months trying to keep her safe from the germy public at large. needless to say, i had fallen into the “comfy” rut. your posts have inspired me so much to once again make myself and my closet a priority (instead of just my daughter’s closet!) and i have been amazed, since beginning to follow your blog a few months ago, the difference it has made in my outlook and the level of joy i experience every day. i am eternally grateful for the rays of fashion sunshine that you provide!
ALI! You made me teary! I 100% completely understand. I feel rotten all the time, but if I get up and get dressed in something cute {it can be comfy too!} I feel so much better. More put together. Happier about life.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for saying that. Made my night. And I’m so happy you’re getting your groove back!
Another great outfit Allison!
i wish I could wear the long sweaters like that, but at only 5’1″, they just look bad bad bad on me.
But, I can layer on sweaters that fall obout mid hip, and I am on the hunt right now for one that is within my budget.
Question: how do you get away with the belt without having your tummy pooch out? I keep wanting to try this look, but every time I add the belt I am so self-conscious of my not-so-perfect mid-section. Any thoughts?
Jessica, I have a total tummy pooch and a belt is the best solution. You put it above the bulge. The ribcage, maybe a little lower, is usually the slimmest part of your body, that’s what you want to accentuate. Belt wherever is the skinniest, above the bulge.
You are hilarious. You knockin’ my In’n’out tee?! Actually, I’ve always wanted to buy one, but I guess I’ll keep passing. I don’t want the Ali Police after me!
That outfit it super cute! I need to find me more belts!

I pretty much wore this EXACT outfit today.
Yummie Tummie leggings, the same Nordy Rack sweater (in camel), red 3/4 tee (Shade), and metallic flats.
Stop it.
Of course you did, we’re the same person.
This is amazing! Thanks for the tips! :)
No problem! Anytime.

Oh and “mom jeans”…. blech!
You’re right, you’ve gotta stick with sweaters that don’t drown you, good call.
Mom jeans = vomit.

I’ll go belt shopping with you, anytime.
NO no no no NO NO In n’ Out tee. I won’t have it.
Yes, yes, another great outfit. You’re so good at this. And this business about you and Carina wearing the same thing–I can’t believe it. I love it.
Also, how cool that you have made such a difference for Ali. That’s beautiful.
Isn’t it the truth? If me and Carina aren’t wearing the same outfit, then something isn’t right with the world?
I know, isn’t it cool that Ali has actually had some serious real life application? Love it.
Just placed an order for Banana Republic skinny jeans. I am putting my faith in you, Allison.
Ashley, I want to hear every single detail. What do you think?
