Pretty in Pink Eye Shadow Tutorial

Salut Petit Elefant readers! I’m Natalia from Ma Nouvelle Mode and I’m back with a fun, flirty pink eye shadow tutorial just in time for Valentines Day. I know smokey eye is always a fun when you’re going out, but I thought I’d mix it up and show you a light, pretty in pink eye shadow look. It’s pretty and fresh and still has that wow factor!

Can I start by saying that I am so sorry for the crazy brows? Mine get outta control if I miss a waxing appointment and I’m pretty sure you can see that I’m overdue. So we’ll just pretend they’re nice and clean and maybe I’ll have another post for another time talking all about shaping your eyebrows. Does that sound good? Thanks!

I am going to run through the directions, but please feel free to ask questions in the comments. Also, the makeup I used I bought in downtown LA at a specialty makeup store. So I don’t have the exact colors for you. I am going to try to make similar suggestions, both higher end and less expensive.

  1. Start with a base. I use a primer that you can find in these Photoready Revlon palettes. You can pick any of these up at Target; I am loving the brown tones lately. You can also use a regular primer, I love this Smashbox one.
  2. Next step is the creases. I start with the creases so that you can smooth and blend everything out as you go. I chose a darker burgundy pink. I found the CoverGirl color from the Flamed Out collection that is similar or there is this beautiful Makeup Forever color. I love both brands.
  3. Then you’ll want to grab a bright pink. I mean bright like this one in Pink Rebel. Be brave ladies! The darker color in this Nars Duo would also work. You’re going to put this in the creases but not onto the brow bone. Just something to brighten up the eyes!
  4. Then you’ll take a medium pigmented true pink for the lids of your eyes. I like this Sephora color. You’re going to put this on three quarters of your lid leaving your inner lid with nothing for now. Blend with the other colors as you go.
  5. Now for the finishing touches! You take a light shimmer pink for the inner lids. You’re going to apply it to the inner lids and up onto the brow bone (if it isn’t too shimmery). If the other colors are too bold for you, you can layer this color over it all. I like this L’Oreal Infallible in Always Pearly Pink or even this e.l.f. shadow in Pink Ice. This MAC shadow in Gleam is also really nice. You get the picture.
  6. Now that you have all the shadows on and you’re feeling pretty hot, go ahead and take a blend brush like this one and make sure that they’re all blended out. They should really look like one but with different shades, does that makes sense? You don’t need to add any color on the blender brush, just blend what you already have on.

You can definitely use pinks that you have from all your different collections. That’s kind of what I did. I had three pinks that I used from the LA colors, my primer from the Revlon palette, and the shimmer inner eye pink from a Clinique gift set! It doesn’t really matter, just blend them together. If you do better with a palette, this Bobbi Brown one is gorgeous. The less expensive end that I don’t think lacks quality is Sonia Kashuk. This palette in Fair and Square is lovely.

There you have it! What do you think, is this something you’d try? I’d love to hear what kinds of look you’ll be going for this V-day! My husband isn’t known for being romantic so we really never do anything on Valentine’s Day. But he just announced to me the other day that he was taking the whole family to dinner! I think he set himself up nicely to never do anything so when he does something small it’s a big deal. Nicely played babe. Nicely played…

Anyway, I hope you all have a great day and are inspired to pink up the makeup!
