dots copyHello lovely readers! I am Robyn from the blog Cleverly, yours and I am so excited to be joining the Petit Elefant team! I can’t wait to show off some of my favorite fashion trends and tips, starting this week with one of my favorite all time trends, polka-dots!  Today it’s all about how to wear dots on dots for the ladies.

Polka-dots are in no way a new trend, but today I’ve taken a little spin on the classic simple look and doubled up on the fun.  There are a few things to consider if you’re thinking of learning how to attempt the “double dots” look, so keep these tips in mind:

IMG_79581. Make sure your dots are sized appropriately.

A larger polka-dot layered over a small polka-dot chambray work well together. Or as seen above, a basic polka-dot top with a small printed jacket over the top keep the look unique but not too much. It’s always smart to play down your other pieces slightly and keep them more simple, like a plain skirt or dark wash jeans. Accessories should also be kept more simple to avoid any clashing or too much “going on”.

2. As a general rule of thumb, when wearing lots of prints, be careful with color choice.

You’re already making a statement by wearing multiple bold prints, so choose your colors wisely! Pairing neutrals together or colors in a similar hue is always a great way of keeping your trend looking fresh and different, but going too wild with colors can quickly make it look sloppy and like you weren’t quite sure how to put it together, but were wanting to “try it out”.

3. Have fun with it!

Be confident and rock the bold prints. These days just about anything goes, so the more prints, the better!

xoxo,

Cleverly, yours…  Robyn

It’s time to go out and try mixing patterns now you know how to!
